• The transaction limit for UPI Lite, which operates in offline mode, has been raised from Rs 200 to Rs 500.
• Individuals can load up to Rs 2,000 twice daily and conduct instant transactions, each capped at Rs 500.
• Notably, these transactions can be done without entering a Personal Identification Number (PIN).
• This move by the central bank aims to increase UPI Lite’s acceptance, introduced in September 2022 to speed up small-value transactions and reduce transaction failures from technical glitches in bank servers.

• The shares were offloaded at an average price of Rs 140.50 apiece, taking the transaction value to Rs 1,177.19 crore.
• At the end of June quarter, Quinag owned more than 8.37 crore shares which is equivalent to 9.90 per cent stake in the company
• Meanwhile, Bofa Securities Europe SA acquired 62.60 lakh shares and Chartered Finance and Leasi NG bought 50 lakh shares of Manappuram Finance.
• In a separate open market transaction on the BSE, promoter entity Sapphire Foods Mauritius pared a 2.5 per cent stake in restaurant operator Sapphire Foods India for Rs 220 crore.
• Sapphire Foods Mauritius sold more than 16.24 lakh shares, amounting to a 2.5 per cent stake in Sapphire Foods India.
• The shares were offloaded at an average price of Rs 1,355 per piece, taking the aggregate transaction value to Rs 220.16 crore
• Last December, promoter entity Sapphire Foods Mauritius divested a 5.9 per cent stake in Sapphire Foods for Rs 509 crore.

• This project will generate employment of nearly 168.8 lakh man-days over a period of eight years
• In Goa, Defence Secretary GiridharAramane laid the keel of four fast patrol vessels (FPVs) for the Coast Guard at Goa Shipyard Ltd. (GSL)
• The FPV designed by GSL is a medium-range, weapon-fitted surface vessel with a length of 51.43 metres and a breadth of 8 metres. The ship is propelled by twin engines and has a maximum speed of 27 knots. The displacement of the vessel is approximately 320 tonnes. It is capable of operating in rough sea conditions.
• In Kolkata, defence shipyard Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers (GRSE) Ltd., and the Dempo Group, the leading business house of Goa, signed a memorandum of understanding to launch a collaboration model to build commercial vessels in three premier shipyards of Dempo at Goa and Bhavnagar.
