  • As on December 4, 2021, as many as 6,49,560 beneficiaries were recorded in Maharashtra, followed by Tamil Nadu (5,35,615), Gujarat (4,44,741) and Karnataka (3,07,164), Minister of State for Labour & Employment Rameswar Teli said in written reply to Lok Sabha.
  • In Maharashtra, the beneficiaries have been provided a total of ₹409.72 crore under the scheme to new employees of 17,524 establishments.
  • In Tamil Nadu, the beneficiaries were provided ₹300.46 crore under the scheme to new employees of 12,803 establishments till December 4, 2021.
  • In Gujarat, funds to the tune of ₹278.63 crore have been provided to the new employees of 12,379 establishments and in Karnataka, the beneficiaries were provided a total of ₹221.63 crore under the scheme to the new employees of 8,024 establishments.
  • The government had launched ABRY to incentivise employment generation in Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) registered establishments during COVID-19 for a period from October 1, 2020 to March 31, 2022.
  • Under the ABRY, the government is paying both employees’ and employers’ contributions of 24% of wages (12% of wages for each) in respect of establishments having 1,000 employees and employees’ contribution of 12 of wages to establishments employing more than 1,000 employees, the House was informed.
  • As on December 4, 2021, employment opportunities have been created for 39.73 lakh new employees and benefits of ₹2612.10 crore were credited upfront in their accounts.
  • The Minister also told the House that the average time taken to process the claims of the EPFO subscribers was 7.3 days during the current fiscal till December 6, 2021 during 2021-22.
  • It was 8.4 days in 2020-21 and 11.5 days in 2019-20.

  • The terms of reference of the committee include recommending future roadmaps and improvements in the various on-going technology projects and guiding Sebi in designing and framing requirements for the various in-house systems.
  • Besides, it would also guide the regulator from a domain perspective in finding appropriate technology solutions.
  • In addition, the committee has also been constituted “to guide SEBI from a domain perspective, in ascertaining the adequacy of SupTech / RegTech tools envisaged / proposed to be used in-house for improving its capabilities,” the release said.

  • The Committee commended Durga Puja for its initiatives to involve marginalized groups, and individuals as well as women in their participation in safeguarding the element.
  • The Union Minister for Culture, Tourism, and DONER, in a tweet said that this is a recognition of the confluence of our rich heritage, culture, rituals and practices and a celebration of the feminine divinity and the spirit of womanhood.
  • Durga Puja not only is a celebration of the feminine divinity but is a consummate expression of dance, music, crafts, rituals, practices culinary and cultural aspects.
  • The festival transcends the boundaries of caste, creed and economic classes and joins the people together in its celebration.
  • With the inscription of Durga Puja in Kolkata, India now has 14 intangible cultural heritage elements on the prestigious UNESCO Representative List of ICH of Humanity. In recent years, the ICH elements that saw inscriptions are Kumbh Mela (inscribed 2017), Yoga (inscribed 2016) among others.
  • India is a signatory of the 2003 UNESCO Convention which aims for the Safeguarding of the Intangible of the Intangible Heritage along with traditions and living expression.
  • Intangible cultural heritage means the practices, representations, expressions, knowledge, skills – as well as the instruments, objects, artifacts and cultural spaces associated with them that communities, groups and, in some cases, individuals recognize as a part of their cultural heritage.

  • On the occasion, Union Minister also announced that as per the ranking and performance, the top 3 States and top 3 districts will be awarded.
  • Calling it a ‘Vikas Portal’, Shri Giriraj Singh said that this MIS portal will not show only data and figures but it will show the speed of the development in the country.
  • He said that this portal is a result of the vision of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to give impetus to the government’s Gati Shakti Mission
  • The Department of Land Resources developed this MIS portal to capture information on various parameters of land acquisition, required for ranking of the State/UTs, which is a software-driven program to submit information by respective State/UTs on land acquisition for developmental projects.
  • The portal is developed in house by the NIC team of the department with zero cost. The link to the portal is larr.dolr.gov.in
  • In the first phase, land acquisition under RFCTLARR Act, 2013 undertaken from 01.01.2014 onwards will be covered for ranking purposes and this will be a continuous process.
  • The suggestions/inputs received from the States/UTs have been considered and incorporated in the parameters for rankings.
  • Each State/UT will get marks out of a total of 140 marks.
  • There is also the provision of the negative marking for delaying implementation.
