  • In a bid to enable regional rural banks (RRBs) to raise resources by listing on stock exchanges, the government has issued draft guidelines that set certain basic criteria, including net worth of at least Rs 300 crore during the previous three years.
  • They should also have capital adequacy above the regulatory minimum level of 9 per cent in each of the preceding three years.
  • The RRBs should have a track record of profitability and earned operating profit of minimum Rs 15 crore for at least three out of the previous five years, according to the draft guidelines issued by the finance ministry recently.
  • Besides, there should not be any accumulated loss and the lender should have given return on equity of minimum 10 per cent in three out of the preceding five years.
  • As per the draft norms, the responsibility of identifying suitable lenders for issuing initial public offering (IPO) has been left with the respective sponsor banks.

  • National Mission for Clean Ganga, NMCG has approved 14 Projects worth one thousand 145 crore rupees pertaining to sewerage management, industrial pollution abatement River Front Development and Decentralized Wastewater Treatment.
  • These include eight projects of sewerage management in five main stem Ganga basin states – Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal.
  • These projects were approved at the 45th meeting of the Executive Committee of NMCG held under the chairmanship of Director General, NMCG G. Asok Kumar.
  • Ministry of Jal Shakti in a statement said that for sewerage management, four projects in Uttar Pradesh were approved including tapping of Assi drain in Varanasi by constructing a 55 million litres per day Sewage Treatment Plant, STP, and other works costing around 308 crore rupees.
  • The project was sanctioned with the objective of achieving zero untreated discharge from three drains Assi, Sanme ghat, and Nakhha.
  • Other projects include the construction of 13 MLD STP, and renovation of existing structures in Vrindavan City costing over 77 crore rupees.
  • A big project for establishment of four Biodiversity Parks in four districts of Uttar Pradesh namely Hapur, Bulandshahar, Badaun, and Mirzapur has also been approved at an estimated cost of around 25 crore rupees.
  • The NMCG also approved indicative funds of 45 crore rupees for the installation of decentralized wastewater treatment systems in the main stem Ganga basin States.
