• The observance of the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty can be traced back to October 17, 1987.
• On that day, over a hundred thousand people gathered at the Trocadero in Paris, where the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was signed in 1948, to honour the victims of extreme poverty, violence and hunger.
• The gathering proclaimed that poverty is a violation of human rights and affirmed the need to come together to ensure that these rights are respected. Since then, people of all backgrounds, beliefs and social origins have gathered every year on October 17 to renew their commitment and show their solidarity with the poor.
• Through resolution 47/196 adopted on 22 December 1992, the UN General Assembly declared 17 October as the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.

• In another statement, the RBI said the penalty on Kotak Mahindra Bank Limited has been imposed for contravention of directions related to ”Managing Risks and Code of Conduct in Outsourcing of Financial Services by banks”, ”Recovery Agents engaged by Banks”, ”Customer Service in Banks”, and ”Loans and Advances – Statutory and Other Restrictions”.
• In both cases, the RBI said the penalties are based on the deficiencies in regulatory compliance and is not intended to pronounce upon the validity of any transaction or agreement entered into by the banks with their customers.

• Cashfree Payments recently rebranded its subsidiary Zecpe, which it acquired in February, to Ecom360. The subsidiary focuses on addressing the end-to-end growth challenges of direct-to-consumer businesses.

• The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi inaugurated the third edition of Global Maritime India Summit 2023 in Mumbai via video conferencing.
• The Prime Minister also unveiled ‘AmritKaal Vision 2047’, a blueprint for the Indian maritime blue economy.
• In line with this futuristic plan, the Prime Minister inaugurated, dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone for projects worth more than Rs 23,000 crores that are aligned with the ‘AmritKaal Vision 2047’ for the Indian maritime blue economy.
• The summit provides an excellent platform for attracting investment in the country’s maritime sector.
• The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of Tuna-Tekra all-weather deep-draft terminal, to be built at a cost of more than Rs 4,500 crore at Deendayal Port Authority in Gujarat.
• This greenfield terminal will be developed in public–private partnership (PPP) mode. The terminal, which is likely to emerge as an international trade hub, will handle next-gen vessels exceeding 18,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and will act as a gateway for Indian trade via the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor (IMEEC).
• The Prime Minister also dedicated more than 300 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) worth more than Rs 7.16 lakh crore for global and national partnerships in the maritime sector.

• The organization issues certificates to businesses after checking their products or services for quality, safety and efficiency.
• The ISO certificate is issued for three years.TheMisrod police station of Bhopal received the ISO certificate in May this year. Director of Infinity Certification Services Hemlata Sharma presented the certificate to Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayan Chari Mishra.
