• It will give Hughes much-needed capacity as the satellite operator is maxed out on its current fleet and continually losing subscribers amid competition from Starlink.
• The satellite will be positioned at 95 degrees West and support in-flight Wi-Fi, maritime connections, enterprise networks, backhaul for mobile network operators, Community Wi-Fi solutions, and residential broadband.
• Manufactured by Maxar Technologies, Jupiter 3 has more than 300 spot beams, each carrying 500 MHz or more, which will provide more than 1 Gbps to the VSAT users in each cell, allowing for faster service plans of up to 100 Mbps. It is a Ka-band satellite with Q- and V-band gateways.
• Launch was the culmination of many years of development and delays.
• Hughes ordered the satellite in 2017 and it was originally supposed to launch in 2021.
• Maxar faced challenges manufacturing the satellite and last year agreed to waive about $50 million in fees to EchoStar to compensate for additional delays in the program.

• During the meeting, they discussed mutual cooperation in the fields of IT, emerging technologies, and the India stack.
• The MoU was signed in the presence of Mr. Abhishek Singh, President & CEO of the National eGovernance Division, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, Mr. Sushil Pal, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, as well as senior officials from the Ministry of External Affairs & National E-Governance Division, MeitY.
• Earlier in June 2023, India signed MoU with four countries on sharing INDIA STACK during the meeting. Around 150 foreign delegates from 50 countries and over 250 delegates attended the summit in-person and more than 2000 persons attended the summit live.

• Debt schemes — excluding passive, overnight, and gilt funds — will contribute 25 basis points (bps) of their assets under management towards the creation of the CDMDF.
• Conservative hybrid funds will also contribute to the fund. In addition, asset
• management companies (AMCs) will make a one-time contribution of 2 bps.
• The total collection will be around Rs. 3,300 crore.
• The fund can avail itself of credit for up to 10 times the initial corpus whenever needed.
• The circular also details the investment framework of the CDMDF and the pricing
• models.
• During phases of market dislocation, MF schemes will be able to sell their investment-grade papers to the CDMDF at a fair value rather than selling at distressed prices in the market to meet redemptions. They can sell bonds to the fund to the extent of their contribution.
• The fund has been set up in the form of an alternative investment fund and will enjoy a guarantee from the National Credit Guarantee Trustee Company
• Under the Stock Exchanges and Clearing Corporations (SECC) Regulations, 2018, AMC Repo Clearing Limited (ARCL), which was established in April 2021, has received in-principle approval from the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).
• Sitharaman flag off the AMC Repo Clearing, a limited-purpose clearing corporation backed by Sebi and funded by AMCs.
• The platform will help all regulated entities — such as AMCs, insurance companies, market makers, and short-term traders — take positions and manage their risks in listed corporate bonds and debentures (non-convertible debt securities), commercial papers, and certificates of deposit.
• ARCL is a Central Counter Party (CCP) that provides clearing and settlement services to all trades made in corporate debt securities on the NSE and BSE.
