Other categories of workers included in the scheme are carpentry workers, folk artists, painters, butchers, gemstone workers, goldsmiths, welders, potters, railway coolies, electricians and bricklayers.
  • In December 2021, the state government announced social security scheme for newspaper hawkers under which newspaper hawkers were provided assistance of ₹1.5 lakh in case of permanent disability, ₹80,000 in case of partial disability (loss of both limbs) and ₹40,000 in case of loss of one limb.
  • Under the scheme, beneficiaries including the elderly, widows, persons with disabilities, unmarried women, AIDS patients, transgender persons and orphan children of COVID-affected families receive Rs 500, Rs 700 and Rs 900 per month under different categories

  • As per reports, in 2022, the DRDO successfully conducted flight tests of the indigenously developed HELINA missile at high-altitude ranges as part of user validation trials. The joint effort involved teams of scientists from DRDO, the Indian Army, and the Indian Air Force (IAF).
  • The flight trials were carried out from an Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) and included the firing and engagement of a simulated tank target. Following the trials and validation from the army and IAF, the government is now preparing for the induction of HELINA into the Indian Army
  • Furthermore, the successful validation trials conducted at Pokhran in Rajasthan pave the way for the integration of HELINA on the ALH, adding to the capabilities of the Indian Armed Forces
  • The Nag ATGM is ready for induction into the Indian Army after completing all required flight and user trials.
  • The Nag missile is categorized as a third-generation Anti-Tank Guided Missile (ATGM) that operates on a fire-and-forget principle.
  • The DRDO has disclosed that the Nag missile boasts an operational range of up to 4 kilometers and is equipped with a tandem high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead.
  • In terms of its physical specifications, the Nag ATGM measures approximately 1.834 meters in length, has a diameter of 0.158 meters, and weighs around 44 kilograms.
  • Notably, the Nag ATGM has been successfully mounted on helicopters, which transforms it into the Helicopter-Launched Nag Missile system, known as HELINA.

  • National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has developed an application ‘MASI’ – Monitoring App for Seamless Inspection for real time monitoring of the Child Care Institutions (CCIs) and their inspection mechanism across the country.
  • The effective and efficient functioning of the mechanism for inspection of CCIs provided under the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015 (as amended in 2021) and synchronous monitoring of the system is the rationale behind developing this comprehensive application.
  • The app is linked to the monitoring Portal where the automatic reports are generated.
  • ‘MASI’ enables unified inspections by Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), State Inspection Committees, District Inspection Committees, Members of Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs) and State Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCRs) as laid down under the JJ Act, 2015.
  • It serves as a single platform for inspections of all the CCIs across the country by any of the above stated authorities. Regular follow-up is done before and after the completion of cycle of inspection.
  • The complete reports are automatically generated on the Portal as soon as the questionnaire is filled and submitted by the authority. 4268 inspections, as on 24.07.2023, have been completed on MASI Portal by 32 States/UTs.
  • As per Mission Vatsalya Scheme Guideline, financial support of Rs.9,25,800/- is provided for setting up of two rooms of 300 sq. ft. for the CWC in the Children Home / VatsalyaSadan (an Integrated Home Complex of CCIs (Children Home, Observation Home, Special Home, Place of Safety) along with offices for JJB and CWC within single premises for implementation of the JJ Act) for which grants for construction are sanctioned under the Scheme.
