• Monetary Policy Committee keeps key interest rate (repo) unchanged at 4 pc for 7th consecutive time;
• Consequently, reverse repo rate too remains unchanged at 3.35 pc;
• Bank rate also remains same at 4.25 pc;
• RBI to continue its accommodative stance to sustain growth amid COVID;
• Retail inflation (CPI) projection at 5.7 pc during 2021-22; may drop to 5.1 pc in Q1 of next fiscal;
• RBI retains GDP growth projection for 2021-22 at 9.5 pc;
RBI extends On Tap TLTRO deadline till 31st December 2021:
- The RBI has extended the life of the On Tap Targeted Long Term Repo Operation, i.e. TLTRO, till 31st December, 2021.
- The On Tap TLTRO was introduced in October last year to inject liquidity into certain ailing sectors of the economy.
- This extension has come in as a measure to support the sectors that have been badly hit by the second wave of the Covid pandemic.
- This is a measure to ensure that there is sufficient liquidity support available to these ailing sectors.
- Initially, the scheme was targeted to just five sectors of the economy.
- Eventually, stressed sectors that were identified by the Kamath Committee were also brought into the scheme last December, following which, banks lending to NBFCs were also added.

- A challenge fund is a fund support mechanism to allocate funds for specific purposes using competition among organisations. Suppose there is an idea which needs to be piloted or scaled up, but funds are an issue, challenge fund provides solution platform to present the idea in prescribed theme, implement and validate it.
- Later the same can be scaled up by leveraging other donor / financier support.
- SCF shall provide financial support to non-profit organizations/educational institutions/social startups which have focus on sustainable livelihood, financial inclusion, and access to financial services besides promoting the culture of entrepreneurship in the country.
- On select six themes of livelihood, women empowerment, financial literacy, responsible business etc. eligible entities can submit their proposal for award.
- The SCF along with digital portal (https:cf.udyamimitra.in) was launched by Secretary, Ministry of MSME, B. B. Swain in the presence of Mr D. K. Singh, Development Commissioner of MSME, Mr Sivasubramanian Ramann, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of SIDBI, Ms Mamta Kohli, Senior Social Development Advisor and Mr Gaurav Kapoor, senior official of FCDO UK.

- The Zonal Office in Hyderabad will be the Nodal Office for all the technically approved proposals received by NFDB across the country, the bank said in a release here.
- The Government created the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) in 2018-19 and is being implemented with a total fund size of Rs.7522.48 crores comprising of Rs. 5266.40 crore to be raised by Nodal Lending Entities (NLE), like NABARD, NCDC and all scheduled banks.
- The eligible entities will be the State Governments / Union Territories, Corporations/Undertakings/Govt. Sponsored, Supported Organizations, Fisheries Cooperative Federations (including FISHCOPFED), Cooperatives, Collective groups of fish farmers and fish produce groups .
- Panchayat Raj Institutions/Self Help Groups (SHGs)/ NGOs, SCs/STs/Marginal Farmers, Women & entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups, Private companies/entrepreneurs and Physically disabled.
- FIDF will help in creation and modernization of Infrastructure of capture & culture fisheries Marine Aquaculture, Inland Fisheries, Reduce post-harvest losses and improve domestic marketing facilities and to bridge the resource gap and facilitate completion of ongoing infrastructure projects.
- So far 67 projects have been approved in the country. 14 from the individual/ private entrepreneurs under FIDF and 53 under Entrepreneur model of PMMSY scheme.

- The Finance Ministry has released Rs 686 crore to four states –Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand and Mizoram — to provide grants to urban local bodies (ULBs).
- The grants for urban local bodies have been released as per the recommendations of the 15th Finance Commission, aimed at improving basic civic services, including fulfilling location-specific felt needs.
- These grants are intended for smaller (non-million plus) cities, including cantonment Boards.
- The Department of Expenditure has released an amount of Rs 685.80 crore to 4 states for providing grants to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs).
- Out of this, an amount of Rs 494 crore has been released to Uttar Pradesh, Rs 110.20 crore to Gujarat, Rs 74.80 crore to Jharkhand and Rs 6.80 crore to Mizoram.
- The grants are meant to ensure the provision of additional funds to urban local bodies over and above the funds allocated by the Centre and state for sanitation and drinking water under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes.
