  • The government constructed 2,088 kms of roads in areas bordering China in the last five years with an expenditure of Rs 15,477 crore.
  • In total, the government spent Rs 20,767 crore in constructing 3,595 kms of border roads during the period that included those in areas along the frontiers with Pakistan, Bangladesh and Myanmar, according to the details provided in Lok Sabha.
  • The government constructed 2,088.57 kms of road along the border with China by incurring an expenditure of Rs 15,477.06 crore.
  • Rs 4,242.38 crore was spent to construct 1,336.09 kms of road along the border with Pakistan, while an expenditure of Rs 882.52 crore was incurred to build 151.15 kms road along the frontier with Myanmar in the last five years.
  • 19.25 kms of road was constructed along the border with Bangladesh at a cost of Rs 165.45 crore.
  • There has been a renewed focus on developing infrastructure along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) with China following the eastern Ladakh standoff.

  • Over three crore 26 lakh farmers have been issued Kisan Credit Cards (KCC) since February 2020 till this month with a sanction limit of three crore 70 lakh rupees.
  • Replying to supplementaries, the Minister said, the government has taken a special saturation drive to issue Kisan Credit Card aiming to cover about 2.5 crore farmers to provide concessional credit to PM-KISAN beneficiaries.
  • Stating that the government has been implementing several programmes for the benefit of farmers across the country, the Minister said, all tenant farmers cultivating notified crops in notified areas are eligible for insurance cover under the Pradhan Mantra FasalBima Yojana.
  • About 25 lakh 37 thousand applications were received from tenant farmers under the PMFBY.

  • Sharma suggested that under the Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, a pledge should be administered to students not to indulge in substance abuse.
  • She said this oath be made a part of the proposed Rural Olympics in the state next month as a large number of youth are expected to participate in the event.

  • So far, 799 projects worth ₹2,973 crore in the storm water drainage sector have been grounded across 19 States / Union Territories (UTs).
  • Of these, 655 projects worth ₹1,284 crore have been completed and 144 projects worth ₹1,688 crore are under implementation.
  • Through these completed projects, 2,381 water logging points have been eliminated by laying/construction of 896 km of storm water drainage network.
  • The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) has also brought out Standard Operating Procedure on Urban Flooding, 2017 which focuses on specific actions required to be undertaken by various departments and agencies of the city/town and also organizations under the district administration as well as State Government for responding to urban flooding of any magnitude.
  • The Standard Operating Procedure has been circulated to all the States and UTs for their guidance.
  • MoHUA had also published manual on Storm Water Drainage Systems, 2019.
  • The list of 66 cities where 2,381 water logging points have been eliminated through the projects completed under AMRUT are at Annexure.

  • On this occasion, Dr Balyan launched a brochure on NDDB MRIDA Limited and Dr Murugan handed over NDDB’s SUDHAN trademark to Chairman and MD, NDDB MRIDA Limited.
  • This is a first-of-its-kind company focusing on efficient utilisation of dung by creating a manure management value chain which will immensely contribute to enhancing the livelihoods of dairy farmers and at the same time contribute towards Swachh Bharat Mission and promotion of green energy.
  • The manure management initiatives have potential to generate biogas equivalent to 50 per cent of India’s present LPG consumption & also produce bio slurry equivalent to 44 per cent of India’s NPK requirement.
  • The foundation stone for first such project was laid by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India in Varanasi on December 23, 2021.
  • NDDB has also registered a trademark named “SuDhan” to provide common identity to dung based organic fertilisers.
