• The 26-year-old lifted 86kg in snatch and a world record of 119kg in clean and jerk for a total of 205kg which also won her the bronze medal at the event.
• The gold medal went to Hou Zhihui of China who created a new world record in snatch and total weight with an effort of 213kg while her compatriot Jiang Huihua clinched the silver, lifting 207kg in the gold level Olympic qualifier.

Srihari Nataraj creates national record, wins second gold in Uzbekistan:

• Ace Indian swimmer Srihari Nataraj created a national record in 50m backstroke while winning his second gold of the Uzbekistan Open Championship.
• Maana Patel and Suvana Baskar, who clocked a personal best of 30.28 seconds, took home the gold and silver respectively in the women’s 50m backstroke event.

• A penalty of Rs 25 lakh has been imposed on SBI General Insurance Company for not fulfilling regulatory obligations under the Motor Third Party (MTP) business.
• The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has also imposed a penalty of Rs 13 lakh on Liberty General Insurance Limited, Rs 10 lakh penalty on Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company, and Rs 3 lakh on Royal Sundaram General Insurance Company.
• In the order on SBI General Insurance Company, IRDAI said the charge was that the insurer did not comply with the MTP Obligation for the financial year 2017-18 calculated as per Regulation 3 of the IRDAI (Obligation of Insurer in respect of Motor Third Party Insurance Business) Regulations, 2015.
• As per the order on Liberty General Insurance Limited, the penalty of Rs 13 has been imposed for violation of certain provisions of Guidelines on Motor Insurance Service Provider (MISP Guidelines).
• The insurer was also directed to ensure in future that any engagement with automotive dealers is strictly in compliance with MISP Guidelines.
• The penalty of Rs 10 lakh has been imposed on Bajaj Allianz General Insurance Company for violation of certain provisions of Insurance Act, 1938.
• In case of Royal Sundaram General Insurance, IRDAI order said the insurer was in violation of a provision MISP Guidelines while imposing the penalty of Rs 3 lakh.

• Karnataka State presented their Annual Action Plan underJal Jeevan Mission via video conference with details of the State’s action plan for the year 2021-22 as well as saturation plan for the whole State, thereby ensuring every rural household getstap water connection.
• In 2021-22, the State plans to provide 25 lakhs tap water connections in rural areas of the State.
• Karnataka State has 91.19 lakh rural households, out of which only 28.44 lakh (31.2%) have tap water supply.
• So far, 23 Panchayats and 676 villages in the State have been declared ‘Har Ghar Jal’, which means every rural household tap water supply.
• It is a big move to empower the community as it not just provides ‘ease of living’ to the women and young girls, who are primarily the water managers in every household but also gives them time to pursue education, learn different vocations, upgrade their skill and spend time with the family which was otherwise used to travel long distances in search of water.
• JJM is a flagship programme of the Union Government, which aims to provide piped potable water to every rural household.
• In the previous financial year 2020-21, Rs 1,189 Crore Central fund was allocated for the State to provide assured tap water supply in every rural household. In the current financial year 2021-22 the State has been allis likely to receive Central funds to the tune of Rs 3,000 Crore, for which the State needs to have a proper plan for effective utilization of the funds to make provision of household tap water connection in villages.
