China launches its latest remote sensing satellite

• China sent its latest remote sensing satellite into space from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center in northwest China.
• The satellite, Yaogan-33 04, was launched on a Long March-4C carrier rocket and has entered its planned orbit successfully.
• It will be used for scientific experiments, land resource surveys, crop yield estimates, and disaster prevention and relief work.
• The launch was the 489th flight mission of the Long March carrier rocket series

• The popular export benefit scheme, Remission of Duty and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP), that was notified for certain sectors till September 30 2023, is now being extended by nine months till June 30 2024
• The RoDTEP scheme refunds embedded duties/taxes, such as VAT on fuel used in transportation, mandi tax and duty on electricity used during manufacturing, that are not rebated under other schemes.
• Announced in January 2021, as a replacement for the WTO-incompatible MEIS scheme, the scheme covered 8,731 items from most export sectors with the exception of organic and inorganic chemicals, pharmaceuticals and iron & steel.
• Later the government decided to extend the benefits also to the three excluded sectors, but just for a period of nine months till September 30 2023, which has now been further extended by nine months.
• In another development, in line with the scheme framework, the RoDTEP Committee has again been constituted in the Department of Revenue to review and recommend the ceiling rates under the RoDTEP Scheme for different export sectors
• Under RoDTEP, a support of ₹27,018 crores has been extended for the 27 month period till March 31 2023. The RoDTEP scheme operates under a budgetary framework and for FY 23-24, a budget of ₹15,070 crore is available to support 10,610 items (HS lines) at the 8 digit level.

• Garuda Aerospace has conducted a Drone Yatra across various states like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Punjab, West Bengal, Goa and Bihar to revolutionise the landscape of agriculture in India with Kisan Drones.
• The company has earned dual approvals from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) for both manufacturing and training, demonstrating its commitment to safety and compliance.
• The start-up claims to be the first drone company to secure a loan under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF DRONE LOAN) and was the first to receive a subsidy in Maharashtra. Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the shareholder and brand ambassador in Garuda Aerospace.
• Founded in 2015, the company has over 400 drones and 500 pilots operating in 84 cities. Garuda Aerospace manufactures 30 types of drones and offers 50 types of services to more than 750 clients, including TATA, Godrej, Adani, Reliance, Swiggy, Flipkart, Delhivery, LandT, Survey of India, SAIL, NTPC, IOCL, Smart cities, Intel, Amazon, Wipro, IISC, MIT Boston, NHAI.

• This development not only enriches the cultural and informational tapestry of the region but also facilitates better communication and connectivity for the communities it serves.
• These projects are part of the Broadcast Infrastructure Network Development Scheme funded by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.
• The projects when completed and made operational will increase the FM coverage in the state to approximately 65% of the state’s area and will enable a reach of about 77% of its population. These projects mark a significant stride toward providing quality radio entertainment and information to a broader audience.
• Earlier in the month of April this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Ninety One 100 W FM transmitters strengthening Akashvani FM’s presence across the country.
