National Milk Day – November 26:

• India celebrated National Milk Day to commemorate the efforts of Dr Verghese Kurien, the brain behind the White Revolution on November 26.
• Dr Kurien played an instrumental role in the development of the dairy industry.
• In 2014, NDDB, IDA and 22 state-level milk federations decided to dedicate November 26 to Dr Verghese Kurien, the Father of India’s White Revolution.
• In 1970, the NDDB embarked on Operation Flood, a national development project to establish a milk grid countrywide.
• Dr Kurien, who was chairman of the NDDB at the time, injected management skills into the cooperative sector, with a strong resolve which made India one of the largest milk and its derivative providers on a global scale.
• Operation Flood under Dr Kurien aimed at both increasing milk production for domestic consumption and improving the economic status of rural areas.

• The order from the Navy and Coast Guard, if approved by the government, will take the Tata Airbus order book to 71 from the existing 56.
