• Justice MunishwarNath Bhandari, who served as the last full-fledged Chief Justice of the Madras High Court, retired on September 12, 2022, after a seven-month tenure in the esteemed high court. Following his retirement, the court witnessed three acting Chief Justices successively. The first acting Chief Justice was Justice M Duraiswamy. After Justice Duraiswamy, Justice T Raja assumed the role of acting Chief Justice, but he retired a few days ago. Currently, the position of acting Chief Justice is held by Justice S Vaidyanathan.

Justice Ramesh D Dhanuka

• Justice Ramesh D Dhanuka began his legal career in 1985 after completing his LLB degree. Initially, he practiced law under the guidance of his father, Justice Deokinandan R Dhanuka (retired), until his father’s appointment as a judge in the Bombay High Court in 1990.
• Subsequently, Justice Dhanuka joined the chamber of S R Shah, a senior advocate and retired City Civil Court judge.
• On January 23, 2012, Justice Ramesh D Dhanuka was appointed as an additional judge of the Bombay High Court.

• Justice S V Gangapurwala was appointed as the Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court according to a notification issued by the central government on December 11, 2022.
• In 1999, Justice Gangapurwala served as the representative of the government in front of the Justice Mane Commission, which investigated the riots in Maharashtra.

• The two BSF head constables Shishupal Singh and Sanwala Ram Vishnoi were killed in July 2022 when violent protests broke out targeting the UN Peacekeeping Base in the DR Congo’s North Kivu province, as part of anti-UN protests across the African country.

• the aggregate amount exempt from income tax under section 10(10AA)(ii) shall not exceed the limit of Rs 25 lakh, where any such payments are received by a non-government employee from more than one employer.
• The increased limit for tax exemption on leave encashment on retirement or otherwise of non-government salaried employees to Rs 25 lakh with effect from April 1, 2023.
• Further, the amount exempt from income-tax under section 10(10AA)(ii) of the Act shall not exceed the limit of Rs 25 lakh as reduced by the tax exemption already allowed in the total income of the employee under section 10(10AA)(ii) of any previous year or years.
• In 2023-24 Budget, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman had increased the tax exemption on leave encashment on retirement of non-government salaried employees to Rs 25 lakh, from Rs 3 lakh.

  • Tenant, paying guest, and domestic help verification.

  • Obtaining permissions or No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for fireworks sales, temporary bar licenses, etc.
  • Providing feedback and sharing confidential criminal information.
• Furthermore, during the event, Union Home Minister Amit Shah also laid the foundation stone for the Guwahati campus of the National Forensic Sciences University. The campus, located in the Changsari suburb of Kamrup’sMolong district, is expected to be completed in two phases.
• The first phase is slated for completion by 2026, while the second phase is targeted for 2030. With an estimated cost of Rs 300 crore, the campus will offer more than 50 undergraduate, graduate, PhD, and post-doctoral programs in various fields of forensic science, including wildlife forensics, cyber security, narcotics, digital forensics, drone forensics, forensic psychology, and forensic justice and law.

• The Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM) was established in 2009 as a high-level global forum to promote policies and programmes that advance clean energy technology, to share lessons learned and best practices, and to encourage the transition to a global clean energy economy.
• India hosted the 4th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM-4) in 2013.
• The CEM has 29 members: the European Commission and 28 governments.

Mission Innovation (MI)

• Mission Innovation (MI) is a Ministerial-level global forum of 23 Countries and the European Commission (on behalf of the European Union) to accelerate Clean Energy revolution and progress towards the Paris Agreement goals and pathways to Net Zero.
• The main objective of MI is to catalyse a decade of action and investment in research, development and demonstration to make clean energy affordable, attractive and accessible for all.
• The first phase of Mission Innovation (MI) (2015-2020) was announced at COP21 on November 30, 2015, as world leaders came together in Paris to commit the ambitious efforts to combat climate change.
• After a successful 5 years’ stint of first phase and recognising the vital need for clean energy investment to accelerate innovation, the second phase of Mission Innovation (MI2.0) was launched on June 2, 2021.
• The focus of MI2.0 is on decade of action (2021-2030) and the emphasis is to scale-up the deployment of innovative clean energy technology and make clean energy affordable, attractive and accessible for all. • The MoD has designated GRSE as the nodal agency for the indigenisation of Close in Weapons Systems (CIWS) guns for Naval applications in Mar 2022.
• Under this mandate, GRSE has achieved this breakthrough in indigenizing the 30 mm Naval Surface Gun (NSG) a vital equipment to be indigenized under the CIWS.
• The 30 mm NSG is a key weapon system fitted on small Warships and Auxiliary vessels of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.
