- The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, Government of India joined the worldwide celebrations of 15th June as Global Wind Day, through the organization of a day-long event in New Delhi
- The event had the central theme of “Pawan – Urja: Powering the Future of India”.
- It is released by Secretary, Ministry of New & Renewable Energy, Bhupinder Singh Bhalla.
- Rajasthan was felicitated for achieving the highest wind capacity addition, Gujarat for achieving the highest wind capacity addition through open access and Tamil Nadu for initiating repowering of wind turbines.
- The celebration was organized in collaboration with the National Institute of Wind Energy, Shakti Sustainable Energy Foundation, Indian Wind Turbine Manufacturers Association, Indian Wind Power Association, and Wind Independent Power Producers Association.
- India ranks fourth in wind power capacity in the world.

- The government has fixed the issue price at Rs 5,926 per gram of gold for the first tranche of the Sovereign Gold Bond Scheme 2023-24, which will open for subscription for five days.
- The issue will be opened for subscription during the period June 19-23, 2023, with the settlement date of June 27, 2023.
- The government in consultation with the Reserve Bank of India has decided to allow a discount of Rs 50 per gram from the issue price to those investors who apply online and the payment is made through digital mode.
- The bonds will be sold through banks Stock Holding Corporation of India Limited (SHCIL), designated post offices, and recognised stock exchanges — National Stock Exchange of India Limited and Bombay Stock Exchange Limited.
- The scheme was launched in November 2015 with the objective to reduce the demand for physical gold and shift a part of the domestic savings — used for the purchase of gold — into financial savings.
- The price of the bond is fixed in Indian rupees on the basis of the simple average closing price of gold of 999 purity, published by the India Bullion and Jewellers Association Limited for the last 3 working days of the week preceding the subscription period.
- The bonds are denominated in multiples of gram(s) of gold with a basic unit of 1 gram.
- The tenor of the bond will be for a period of 8 years, with an exit option after the 5th year to be exercised on the next interest payment dates.
- The minimum permissible investment is 01 gram of gold. The maximum limit of subscription is 4 kilograms for individuals, 4 kg for HUF and 20 kg for trusts and similar entities per fiscal (April-March).
- The Know-your-customer (KYC) norms will be the same as that for the purchase of physical gold.

- The Reserve Bank of India has imposed ₹20 lakh monetary penalty on Manappuram Finance for non-compliance with certain provisions of Non Banking Financial Company (NBFC).
- The RBI imposed this penalty on the NBFC as it did not classify certain gold loan accounts with overdues of more than 90 days as Non-Performing Assets (NPAs).
- This penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of section 58G (1) (b) read with section 58B (5) (aa) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
- This is not the first time when RBI has imposed penalty on Manappuram Finance Limited.
- In November 2020, the central bank of India had imposed ₹5 lakh penalty on the NBFC for non-compliance with directions issued by RBI on verification of ownership of gold jewellery, contained in Non-Banking Financial Company – Systemically Important Non-Deposit taking Company and Deposit taking Company (Reserve Bank) Directions, 2016.

- Programme priorities of the UN entities working at the country are derived from the GoI-UNSDCF.
- The GoI-UNSDCF 2023-2027 is built on four strategic pillars derived from the 2030 Agenda – People, Prosperity, Planet and Participation.
- The four interlinked pillars have six outcome areas focusing on Health and Well Being; Nutrition and Food Security; Quality Education; Economic Growth and Decent Work; Environment, Climate, WASH and Resilience; and Empowering People, Communities, and Institutions.
- The formulation of the GoI-UNSDCF 2023-2027 was led by NITI Aayog, on behalf of the Government of India, with robust participation of line Ministries, State Governments, and Union Territories.
- The UN Resident Coordinator led and coordinated inputs from the UN development system in India.
