  • The central bank allotted liquidity aggregating Rs 2,50,010 crore to the bidders (banks) at a weighted average rate of 6.73 per cent.
  • As on January 24, system liquidity deficit was near an all-time high of Rs 3.5-lakh crore (without adjusting for daily cash reserve ratio/CRR imbalances) on account of GST (goods & service tax) payments.

Development projects inaugurated by PM:

  • The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation the 173 Km long double line electrified section between New Khurja – New Rewari on Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) by flagging off goods trains from the two stations through video conferencing.
  • This new DFC section is important as it establishes crucial connectivity between the Western and Eastern DFCs.
  • It has a ‘one kilometre long double line rail tunnel with high rise electrification’, which is the first of its kind in the world.
  • This tunnel is designed to seamlessly operate double-stack container trains.
  • The Prime Minister also dedicated to the nation the fourth line connecting Mathura – Palwal section & Chipiyana Buzurg – Dadri section.
  • These new lines will improve the rail connectivity of the national capital to Southern Western & Eastern India.
  • The Prime Minister dedicated multiple road development projects to the nation. The projects include Aligarh to Bhadwas four-laning work Package-1 (part of Aligarh-Kanpur Section of NH-34); widening of Meerut to Karnal border via Shamli (NH-709A); and four laning of Shamli-Muzaffarnagar section of NH-709 AD Package-II.
  • These road projects, developed at a cumulative cost of more than Rs 5000 crore will improve connectivity and help in the economic development in the region.
  • The Prime Minister also inaugurated Indian Oil’s Tundla-Gawaria Pipeline.
  • Built at a cost of about Rs 700 crore, this 255 km long pipeline project has been completed well ahead of the scheduled time.
  • The project will help in the transportation of petroleum products from Tundla to Gawaria T-Point of Barauni-Kanpur Pipeline with pumping facilities at Mathura and Tundla and delivery facilities at Tundla, Lucknow and Kanpur.
  • The Prime Minister also dedicated to the nation ‘Integrated Industrial Township at Greater Noida’ (IITGN).
  • It has been developed in line with the Prime Minister’s vision of integrated planning and coordinated implementation of infrastructure connectivity projects under PM-GatiShakti.
  • Built at a cost of Rs. 1,714 crore, the project is spread over 747 acres and is located near the intersection of Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors with the Eastern Peripheral Expressway to the south and the Delhi-Howrah broad gauge railway line to the east.
  • The Prime Minister inaugurated the renovated Mathura sewerage scheme including the construction of a sewage treatment plant (STP) at a cost of about Rs 460 crore.
  • This work includes construction of 30 MLD STP at Masani, rehabilitation of existing 30 MLD at Trans Yamuna and 6.8 MLD STP at Masani & construction of 20 MLD TTRO plant (Tertiary Treatment and Reverse Osmosis Plant).
  • He also inaugurated Moradabad (Ramganga) sewerage system & STP works (Phase I).
  • The project built at a cost of about Rs 330 crore consists of 58 MLD STP, about 264 km sewerage network and nine sewage pumping stations for pollution abatement of Ramganga River at Moradabad.

Salient features of the Schemes are,

Pre-Matric Scholarship:
  • Pre-Matric Scholarship is for students studying in class IX and X on a full-time basis in Government Schools only.
  • Income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.
  • The students shall be given a consolidated academic allowance of Rs. 4000/- per annum.
  • During the year 2023-24, an amount of Rs 32.44 Crore has been released to States/UTs for implementation of the Scheme till 18th January,2024.
Post-Matric Scholarship:
  • Scholarship is awarded to students studying at post-matriculation or post-secondary stage to enable them to complete their education.
  • Income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.
  • Academic allowance from Rs.5000 to Rs.20000 is awarded to students as per category of course.
  • During the year 2023-24, an amount of Rs 387.27 Crore has been released to States/UTs for implementation of the Scheme till 18th January,2024.
Top Class School Education:
  • The scheme provides premium education to the meritorious students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT categories by funding their education from Class 9 onwards till they complete Class 12.
  • Income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.
  • Scholarship is awarded for tuition fee, hostel fee and other charges as required by the school, subject to a maximum of Rs. 75,000/- per annum per student of class 9 and 10 and Rs. 1,25,000/- per annum per student of class 11 and 12.
  • National Scholarship Portal is open till 31st January, 2024 for submitting applications under the Scheme.
Top Class College Education:
  • The scheme is to recognize and promote quality education amongst Students belonging to OBC, EBC and DNT categories by providing full financial support.
  • Income from all sources does not exceed Rs.2,50,000/- per annum.
  • Students, who secure admission in the notified institutions, will be awarded scholarship to meet the requirements for (a) full tuition fee and non-refundable charges (there will be a ceiling of Rs. 2.00 lakh per annum per student for private sector institutions and Rs. 3.72 lakhs per annum per student for the private sector flying clubs for Commercial Pilot Training and Type Rating Courses) (b) living expenses to the beneficiary @Rs.3000/-per month per student (c) books and stationery @ Rs. 5000/- per annum per student and (iv) a latest computer/laptop of reputed brand with accessories like UPS and printer limited to Rs. 45000/- per student as one time assistance during the course.
  • National Scholarship Portal is open till 31st January,2024 for submitting applications under the Scheme
Construction of Hostel for OBC Boys and Girls:
  • The scheme aims at providing hostel facilities to students belonging to socially and educationally backward classes, especially from rural areas to enable them to pursue secondary and higher education in the Govt. schools, universities, institutions and institutes located at a reasonable distance in order to provide them greater access to high quality education.
  • During the year 2023-24, an amount of Rs 12.75 Crore has been released to States/UTs for implementation of the Scheme till December 2023.
