  • Hindi, declared the official language of the Union of India in 1950, was first spoken in the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on January 10, 1949. As per Article 343 of the Constitution, Hindi in Devanagari script is the official language of the Union.
  • The Centre hosts the ‘World Hindi Conference’ to promote Hindi, as promoting the language in foreign countries is a matter of high priority for it. It was organised for the first time in 1975 in Nagpur and was attended by 122 representatives from 30 nations.
  • A unique theme is designated to World Hindi Day every year. In 2024, the theme of the World Hindi Day is “Hindi–Bridging Traditional Knowledge and Artificial Intelligence”.

  • OOIL will act as ONGC Group’s gateway to the world for its overseas ventures and investments, the company said.
  • ONGC Videsh, recognised as one of 14 Navratana enterprises of the government, is the overseas arm of ONGC, the flagship national oil company. OVL plays a key role in securing the energy interests of India, which imports a significant part of its hydrocarbon requirements.
  • The primary business of ONGC Videsh is to prospect for oil and gas acreages outside India, including exploration, development and production of oil and gas. It owns participating interests in 32 oil and gas assets in 15 countries.
  • In terms of reserves and production, ONGC Videsh is India’s second-largest petroleum company, next only to its parent ONGC.
  • The International Financial Services Centre, developed as a multi-services special economic zone at Gift City, allows domestic and multinational companies the option to shift their overseas investments onshore.
  • The government has provided a competitive tax structure for IFSC in a bid to develop it as a hub for international financial services activities.
  • Power Finance Corporation (PFC) received approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to set up a wholly-owned finance company in the GIFT City in Gujarat. The entity at the International Financial Services Centre (IFSC) will present new business opportunities for PFC and contribute to the growth of the country’s power sector

  • Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) on Monday said its board has approved acquiring up to 10 per cent in a company promoted by the National Housing Bank (NHB).

  • The weapon is designed and developed to meet the operational requirements of the Indian armed forces, paramilitary forces and state police forces, said the official.
  • The rifle, weighing less than four kg with a 500-meter firing range, was unveiled at the hands of ShailendraGade, the director general of the Armament and Combat Engineering (ACE) system of the DRDO.

  • UAE President Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the chief guest at the summit. Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala, Mozambique President Filipe Jacinto Nyusi, and Timor-Leste President Jose Ramos Horta also attended the summit.
  • The cooperation with the UAE has been particularly intense.
  • Apart from agreements on healthcare sector and innovation with the UAE, a pact on logistics cooperation was also signed between the government of Gujarat and Dubai-based logistics firm DP World.
  • At the same time, India and the Czech Republic released a strategic partnership on innovation.
  • The partnership will focus on “sectors such as startup and innovation, cybersecurity, digital domains, artificial intelligence, defence, nuclear energy and circular economy,” India’s foreign ministry said in a joint statement released after a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala.
  • Prime Minister Modi also met with President Nyusi of Mozambique and President Horta of Timor-Leste.

  • The Ministry of AYUSH in collaboration with World Health Organization has prepared a classification of diseases used in Ayurveda, Siddha and Unani systems under TM-2 module of ICD-11 series. A Donor Agreement between the World Health Organization and the Ministry of Ayush was also signed earlier for this classification. This effort will further strengthen and expand India’s healthcare delivery system, research, Ayush insurance coverage, research & development, policy making system. Apart from this, these codes can also be used to formulate future strategies to control various diseases in the society.
  • Launching the ICD-11, TM Module-2 at the India Habitat Centre, Dr.MunjaparaMahendrabhai, Union Minister of State for Ayush and Women & Child Development said that there is a need to modernize Ayush medicine by integrating it with global standards in India as well as across the world.

  • As per a private defence company, Drishti is an advanced surveillance and reconnaissance platform with 36 hours of endurance and 450 kg payload capacity. It’s the only all-weather military platform with NATO’s STANAG 4671 (standardised agreement 4671) certification for the UAV system’s airworthiness.
