- Marketing Margin is charged by gas marketing company from consumers over and above the cost of gas for taking on the additional risk and cost associated with marketing of gas.
- Government had previously determined marketing margin on supply of domestic gas to urea and LPG producers in 2015.
- In line with government vision of AatmaNirbhar Bharat, this approval will incentivize manufacturers to increase investment.
- The increased investment will lead to self-sufficiency in fertilizers, and provide an element of certainty for future investments in gas infrastructure sector.

- Under the Scheme, the Central Government gives subsidy of Rs.18.50 per kg per month of sugar to AAY families of participating States.
- The approval is expected to extend benefits of more than Rs.1850 crore during period of 15th Finance Commission (2020-21 to 2025-26).
- The scheme is expected to benefit about 1.89 crores AAY families of the country.
- With this approval, the Government will continue giving subsidy to participating States for distribution of sugar to AAY families through PDS at the rate of One kg per family per month.

Antyodya Anna Yojana:
- The Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) is one of the largest projects the Indian government has ever worked on.
- In India, a public distribution system program was put into place in the year 2000.
- Ending hunger in India and ensuring food security for the populace are the system’s primary goals.
- N Sri Vishnu, the Union Minister of Food and Civil Supplies at the time, created AAY.
- After identifying the “poorest of the poor” (the 10,000,000 poorest families in the Below Poverty Line category) through surveying,the government began providing them an opportunity to purchase up to 35 kilograms of rice and wheat at a highly subsidised cost of Rs 3 per kilogram of rice and Rs 2 per kilogram of wheat.
- Poor families were identified by their respective state rural development facilities through the use of surveys.
- Once a family has been recognized as eligible, they are given a unique “Antyodaya Ration Card”.
- This card, also called the PDS(public distribution card), acts as a form of identification, proving that the bearer is authorized to receive the level of rations the card describes.

- It aimed to address the long-standing issue of digitizing its records and work processes.
- Coal Mines Provident Fund Organization (CMPFO) is an autonomous organization under the aegis of Ministry of Coal established in the year 1948 for administering Provident Fund and Pension schemes for the purpose of providing social security to the coal sector workers.
- The portal, C-CARES, will allow CMPF subscribers and coal companies to login and perform various functions tailored to their needs.
- While the subscribers can access and view their individual details and subscription status, the coal management can submit contribution details, subscribers’ particulars and claims for online settlement and payment through the portal.

CIL with EDCIL:
- The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Coal India Limited (CIL) and Educational Consultants India Limited (EDCIL) aims to provide digital education through smart classrooms and computer laboratory up to 12th standard schools in Coal Bearing States.
- It is estimated that 200 schools will be benefited and estimated CSR expenditure is to be incurred Rs. 27.08 Crores.
- A thousand smart classrooms have already been equipped under the CSR initiative of the Government Coal Companies.
CIL with NSDC:
- To provide the skill to the youth of communities around the coalfield, Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) to establish multi skilled development institutes in each subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL).
- The multi-skill development institutes will be operationalised in central coal limited (CCL) and Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) in 2024-25 on pilot basis, and subsequently will be scaled up in other Coal India Limited (CIL) subsidiaries.
CIL with TATA STRIVE:
- To ensure gainful employment to 655 unemployed youth in the peripheral area of the coal mines, Coal India Limited (CIL) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with TATA STRIVE.
- This will cover training in the domain of assistant electrician, Commis Chefs, F&B Steward, Housekeeping & Front office associates in four centres – Nagpur, Varanasi, Kamrup- Assam & Chindwara.

- Under the new guidelines, effective from April 1, 2024, IRDAI has directed all general and health insurers (except ECGC and AIC) to put in place a board-approved policy for AYUSH coverage, which should include their approach towards placing AYUSH treatments on par with other treatments for health insurance coverage, thereby allowing policyholders to adopt a treatment of their choice.
- The policy shall also contain the quality parameters as well as procedure for enrolling AYUSH hospitals/daycare centres as network providers for cashless facility.
IRDAI:
- The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) is a statutory body under the jurisdiction of Ministry of Finance , Government of India and is tasked with regulating and licensing the insurance and re-insurance industries in India.
- It was constituted by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority Act, 1999, an Act of Parliament passed by the Government of India.
- The agency’s headquarters are in Hyderabad, Telangana, where it moved from Delhi in 2001.
- IRDAI is a 10-member body including the chairman, five full-time and four part-time members appointed by the government of India.

Ramsar Site:
- A Ramsar site is a wetland site designated to be of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, also known as The Convention on Wetlands.
- It is an international environmental treaty signed on February 2, 1971, in Ramsar, Iran, under the auspices of UNESCO.
Karaivetti Bird Sanctuary:
- The Karaivetti bird sanctuary is located in Ariyalur District, covering an area of 453.7 ha.
- The site serves as the home to more than 500 species of flora and fauna.
- The sanctuary lies in the Central Asian Flyway and is an important breeding and foraging ground for water bird species.
- The wetland also helps in irrigation and recharging of the groundwater of the area.
Longwood Shola reserve Forest:
- The Longwood Shola Reserve Forest is located in the Nilgiris District, covering an area of 116.007 ha.
- It serves as the home for more than 700 species of flora and fauna.
- Out of 177 bird species found in the site, 14 species are endemic to the Western Ghats.
- The area is rich in herpetofauna diversity, with several species being endemic to the Western Ghats and also considered threatened species by the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

- Tamil Nadu’s Department of Environment, Climate Change & Forest has undertaken the task of preparing the Integrated Management plans for its Ramsar sites in collaboration with the Wildlife Institute of India.
- It has also launched the Tamil Nadu Wetlands Mission for the protection, conservation, and restoration of 100 wetlands at a cost of Rs 115.15 crore

- The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi approved the continuation of Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF) to be implemented under Infrastructure Development Fund (IDF) with an outlay of Rs.29,610.25 crore for another three years up to 2025-26.
- The scheme will incentivize investments for Dairy processing and product diversification, Meat processing and product diversification, Animal Feed Plant, Breed multiplication farm, Animal Waste to Wealth Management (Agri-waste management) and Veterinary vaccine and drug production facilities.
- Government of India will provide 3% interest subvention for 8 years including two years of moratorium for loan up to 90% from the scheduled bank and National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC), NABARD and NDDB.
- Government of India will also provide credit guarantee to the MSME and Dairy Cooperatives up to the 25% of the credit borrowed from the Credit Guarantee Fund of Rs.750 crore.
- The AHIDF has so far created an impact by adding 141.04 LLPD (Lakh Ltr. Per Day) of milk processing capacity, 79.24 lakh metric ton of feed processing capacity and 9.06 Lakh metric ton of meat processing capacity by adding to the supply chain since the inception of the scheme.
- The scheme has been able to increase processing capacity by 2-4% in dairy, meat and animal feed sector.
