1. Which city in India is set to have the country’s first AI city, as announced by the Uttar Pradesh government?

  • UP to build India’s first AI city in Lucknow.
  • UP Electronics Corporation Ltd has issued an Expression of Interest for Design, Development and Operation of an AI City in Lucknow.
  • UP Electronics Corporation Ltd , the nodal agency for the project, inviting a real estate developer to develop and operate the AI city.
  • The government will provide 40 acres in Nadarganj Industrial Area for the project.
  • Financial support will be provided to the developer through attractive financial incentives, such as one-time Capex support of 25 per cent up to Rs 20 crore for IT Park and Rs 100 crore for IT City, and 100 per cent stamp duty exemption as per the IT and ITeS Policy, 2022.
  • The UP government has undertaken a journey to become a $1 trillion economy in the next 5 years, and in this regard, IT and ITeS have been identified as core sectors to propel the economy in this direction.
  • UP is the sixth-largest state in terms of the IT ecosystem and is also home to one of the highest numbers of start-ups in India.
  • Note: A report by Grand View Research pegged the global AI market size at $137 billion in 2022 and is projected to expand at a compound annual growth rate of 37.3 per cent from 2023 to 2030.

  • He will Launch 3 new features on the iGOT Karmayogi Platform: My iGOT, Blended Programs, and Curated Programs.
  • My iGOT delivers targeted training courses on home page of individual officer that directly address the unique capacity building needs of the officer as identified in the Capacity-Building Plan for their Ministries/Departments.
  • Blended Programs on iGOT-Karmayogi platform will facilitate equitable access to training methodologies across all levels to meet dynamic training needs of the officials. Blended Programs integrate traditional offline (in person) classroom courses with online learning components.
  • Curated Programs on iGOT Karmayogi are designed to cater to diverse learning needs of the Ministries/Departments and Training Institutions. The Course Providers will be able to curate relevant content, resources, and assessments from the repository of iGOT with a Programmatic approach to provide a tailored learning journey.
  • He will also launch 12 domain specific capacity building e-learning courses developed in a span of two months as part of Annual Capacity Building Plan (ACBP) of the DOPT by Karmayogi Digital Learning Lab (KDLL) of DOPT.
    • KDLL was inaugurated by the Hon’ble MoS (PP) in August 2021 to develop e-learning courses to build the capacity of the civil servants.
    • Annual Capacity Building Plan for DOPT was launched on 27th Sept. 2023 by the Hon’ble Minister Dr Jitendra Singh.
    • These 12 courses will not only directly address the domain competency requirements of the Civil Servants working in DOPT, but also help the other Government organisations in handling the functional matters on a day to day basis in an effective manner.
  • He will also launch a new blended learning programme named VIKAS (Variable & Immersive Karmayogi Advanced Support) meant for capacity building of Middle management civil servants in Central Secretariat.
    • VIKAS is a blended programme with iGOT consisting of 33 hours complemented by 30 hours of offline training at ISTM with focuses on development of functional, behavioral and technological competencies required in Central Government.

Mission Karmayogi:

  • The National Programme for Civil Services Capacity Building (NPCSCB) envisioned by the Government, addresses the changing needs and aspirations of the citizen.
  • The NPSCSB aims to embark on a learning transformation program that will address the capacity building issues of the Civil Services through a comprehensive online platform – iGOT Karmayogi.
  • iGOT Karmayogi aims to provideonline, face-to-face and blended learning and manage lifelong learning records of the officials.

iGOT Karmayogi:

  • iGOT Karmayogi is an online learning platform being developed as an integral part of the Digital India stack for capacity building of all government employees.
  • It will provide ‘anytime-anywhere-any device’ learning to train around 2.0 crores users which was so far unachievable through traditional measures.

  • The Chief of Integrated Defence Staff to the Chairman Chiefs of Staff Committee (CISC) Lt Gen JP Mathew flagged off the Delhi to Gwalior leg of the JSW-NDA Car Rally from National War Memorial in New Delhi on Dec 24, 2023, as part of the celebrations marking the 75 glorious years of the National Defence Academy.
  • This rally, initiated as a tribute to Operation ‘Badli,’ traces its roots to 1954 under the stewardship of Maj Gen Enayat Habibullah.
  • Beginning its journey from Dehradun, the rally will navigate through significant armed forces stations such as Gwalior, MHOW, Nashik, Mumbai, culminating its 1800 km odyssey at the National Defence Academy in Pune within six days.
  • Mahindra Auto’s support for the rally was recognized in facilitating vehicle replacements from Mumbai.
  • Furthermore, HQ IDS and INS India received acknowledgment for their crucial administrative and logistical support.

National Defence Academy:

  • The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint defence service training institute of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force train together before they go on to their respective service academy for further pre-commission training.
  • It was established on 7 December 1954.
  • The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra.
  • It is the first tri-service academy in the world.
