  • The bank shall not grant or renew any loans and advances, make any investment, incur any liability including borrowal of funds and acceptance of fresh deposits, disburse or agree to disburse any payment whether in discharge of its liabilities and obligations or otherwise, enter into any compromise or arrangement and sell, transfer or otherwise dispose of any of its properties or assets.
  • The restrictions will remain in force for a period of six months
  • The RBI had previously imposed a monetary penalty on The National Co-operative Bank in May for certain rule violations.
  • Specifically, the bank was found to be collecting fixed penal charges for a shortfall in maintaining the minimum balance in savings bank accounts, instead of proportionate to the extent of the shortfall.

  • India and Argentina have an Inter-governmental Agreement to promote technical and scientific cooperation signed in 1985.
  • The objective of this programme is to strengthen and expand relations between scientific communities, making possible the exchanges between Indian and Argentine research groups, in the framework of joint scientific and technological projects, selected by the parties.
  • India is the 4th largest trading partner of Argentina, with bilateral trade touching a historic peak of USD 6.4 billion in the year 2022, recording a growth rate of 12% over 2021.
  • Exports from India to Argentina was worth USD 1.84 billion (31% growth rate) while India’s imports from Argentina was worth USD 4.55 billion.
  • As per DGFT, India-Argentina bilateral trade during the fiscal year 2022-23 was USD 4.16 billion, with India’s exports to Argentina valued at USD 961 million and Argentina’s exports to India valued at USD 3.20 billion.

  • The pact was inked between KSUM Chief Executive Officer AnoopAmbika and IFSCA Chief Technology Officer Joseph Joshy.
  • The MoU permits seeking inputs from each other on developmental matters relating to the fintech industry, while also collaborating on events that include global hackathons and education programs.
  • The parties can jointly hold symposia, webinars, and conferences for the growth of fintech at IFSC in GIFT (Gujarat International Financial Tec-City) of Gandhinagar, pointed out Ambika, noting that the agreement will enable KSUM startups to know more about the global trends in the domain.
  • Also, KSUM-registered fintechs will get access to IFSCA’s Regulatory and Innovation Sandbox. They can also apply to the IFSCA FinTech Incentive Scheme 2022 for grants.

  • The theme of the event was “Reaching the Last Mile: Regional Connectivity through Helicopters & Small Aircraft”.
  • The event format included an inaugural session followed by a technical session.
  • UDAN 5.2 has been launched for further enhancing the connectivity to remote and regional areas of the country and achieving last-mile connectivity through small aircraft such as 1A (<9 seats) and Category 1(<20 seats).
  • Shri Scindia also launched Heli-Sewa mobile application during the event. The HeliSewa Portal is an initiative of the Ministry of Civil Aviation under Digital India to create a common platform to create an ecosystem between the helicopter operators and the district authorities. The mobile application will make it more convenient to use in terms of user experience, loading content, and usability of functions.
  • A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Pawan Hans and Jetserve was signed for advancing the Helicopter and Small Aircraft sector in India.

Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia inaugurates three Flight Training Academies in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh

  • Shri Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Minister for Civil Aviation and Steel inaugurated three Flight Training Organizations (FTO) in Khajuraho, Madhya Pradesh
  • With the opening of three FTOs in Khajuraho, the total number of FTOs in Madhya Pradesh will be six, three at Khajuraho, one at Indore, one at Sagar, and one at Guna.
  • These six FTOs will enhance the potential of the state to be a major contributor to pilots in the aviation industry.
  • Flyola Aviation Academy can train 20 cadets in one batch. For this, FTO has 04 flying instructors.
  • Indian Flying Academy: Indian Flying Academy is a unit of Shaurya Flight Sim Pvt Ltd that has been established at Khajuraho Airport under the ‘AatamNirbhar Bharat’ initiative taken by the honorable Prime Minister. It has acquired 05 aircraft of which 04 have already arrived. Of these 04 aircraft, 03 aircraft are Single-Engine Aircraft consisting of two Diamond DA 40, one Evektor, and one Multi Engine aircraft-Diamond DA 42. Indian Flying Academy will have a capacity of 40 students for Flying Training per batch and the FTO will have 2 batches per year.

  • Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin inaugurated a camp here to facilitate registration of applications by women to avail the Rs 1,000 monthly basic income scheme, a flagship programme of the ruling DMK regime set to be launched in September.
  • The first phase of special camp for Dharmapuri district would be held from July 24 to August 4, covering 2,21,484 family card holders.
  • The second phase of the camp would be conducted between August 5 and 16 for 2,47,111 ration card holders. As many as 35,923 camps are set to be held across the state for the registration exercise.
  • In the 2023-24 Budget, the state government announced allocation of Rs 7,000 crore for the ‘KalaignarMagalirUrimaiThittam’ (Kalaignar Scheme for Women’s Right) an initiative to ensure a basic minimum income for eligible women heads of families. The scheme is expected to benefit approximately one crore women.
  • As regards eligibility, the yearly income of the family should be less than Rs 2.50 lakh per annum.
  • In case the applicants own wetland, it should be less thanfive acres and in case of dryland, it must be below ten acres. Annual domestic electricity consumption should be less than 3,600 units.
  • The government had announced that the scheme would be implemented from September 15, the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister and Dravidian icon CN Annadurai.
  • The other aspects in respect of eligibility is the stipulation that applicants should have completed 21 years of age and only one woman/woman-head from a family that has a ration card could apply to avail the Rs 1,000 monthly support.
  • In the ration card, if the name of a man was mentioned as family head, his wife would be regarded as woman head of the family. For some reason, if the name of the man’s wife does not figure in the ration card, one of the other women, who are part of that family would be treated as woman head of family for the purpose of the scheme.

  • The state government of Tamil Nadu has applied for the first stage clearance, known as ‘site-clearance,’ to develop a Greenfield airport at Parandur in Kancheepuram District.
  • According to the Greenfield Airport Policy of 2008, the proposal is being reviewed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), and Ministry of Defence (MoD) for their feedback.
  • The final recommendation for the award of site clearance will be made by the Steering Committee on Greenfield Airports, after consulting all stakeholders.
  • The implementation of these airport projects, including funding, land acquisition, and rehabilitation & resettlement efforts, lies with the respective airport developers, which may also include the state government if they are the project proponents.
