  • Paytm owner One97 Communications Limited has launched Paytm UPI SDK, which will allow customers of online merchants to make UPI payments directly and in-line from the merchant’s mobile app without getting redirected during checkout.
  • The new feature will allow customers to pay directly from their bank accounts by entering their UPI PIN without leaving the merchant app.
  • Online businesses can offer their customers the ability to conveniently check their account balance, create VPA handles, add more UPI linked accounts and set/reset UPI PIN in real-time within their app prior to making a payment.
  • This is part of the existing UPI acquiring arrangement between Paytm Payments Services Ltd. and Paytm Payments Bank, under which Paytm Payments Services Ltd provides UPI acquisition service to merchants. This UPI SDK is an add-on feature under the same arrangement.

  • Kerala Chief Minister PinarayiVijayan declared the southern state as India’s first fully e-governed state where an entire range of government services have been digitised so that they can be provided to the citizens promptly and transparently.
  • e- Sevanam, a single window portal launched by the government, will offer 900 government services online.
  • The portal offers citizen services including various registrations and services related to social security pension. Also available are permits, licences and approvals from various departments like Land Revenue, Motor Vehicles, and Civil Supplies. Services related to the opening of new businesses, purchase of equipment by farmers, and students’ services, are also available.
  • Setting up the country’s first digital university in the state and launch of the digital science park project worth ₹ 1,500 crore were the other major steps taken by the government to bridge the digital divide and bring about total e-governance.
  • The Kerala State Wide Area Network programme is being launched to connect the data centre with 14 district centres and 152 block panchayats. The KFi programme to offer wifi at public places is being implemented. Over 2,000 hotspots have been set up and steps are being taken to launch another 2,000. All village offices are being converted into smart village offices.
  • The ‘Unique thandaper’ programme is also being implemented. The country’s first digital science park is being set up in the state at a cost of `1,500 crore.
  • The e-office system was established in secretariats, collectorates, RTO offices and commissionerates for speedy file movement. Steps are being taken to expand it to the taluk level.
  • The K-FON project will be a reality next month. It will help Kerala make great strides in internet penetration and people would be able to make good use of online services. A state data centre was established to strengthen e-governance efforts.

  • One of the MoUs was signed between Guidance Tamil Nadu and Hi-P International Private Limited, a Singaporean firm specializing in electronics component manufacturing. Hi-P International proposed an investment of Rs 312 crore to establish a facility in Tamil Nadu, which is expected to create employment opportunities for 700 individuals over a span of six years.
  • The Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry signed an MoU with Guidance TN to foster collaboration in research and innovation. This includes initiatives such as university collaboration, incubators, cooperation between government entities and the private sector, as well as support for export activities of industries in Tamil Nadu.
  • SIPCOT (State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu) and the Singapore-India Partnership Office also signed an MoU to establish cooperation in economic activities and development.
  • Furthermore, a tripartite MoU was signed among the Singapore India Partnership Office, FaMeTN, and StartupTN, aiming to enhance collaboration and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.
  • In the field of education, an MoU was signed between the Singapore University of Technology and Design and Guidance TN. This MoU designates the university as a knowledge partner for the development of futuristic and industry-ready curriculum and courses in technology and design.
  • Lastly, the MoU between TN Skill Development Corporation and ITE Education Services of Singapore aims to establish a long-term partnership in the realm of technical and vocational education and training. This partnership encompasses initiatives such as capacity building, continuing education, and fostering collaborations to promote startup ecosystem activities.
  • Overall, these MoUs signify the commitment of both Tamil Nadu and Singapore to foster cooperation, innovation, and economic growth in various sectors.
