  • This will enable scientists to track the distribution of phytoplankton and – for the first time from space – identify which communities of these organisms are present on daily, global scales.
  • The spacecraft also carries two polarimeter instruments, Hyper-Angular Rainbow Polarimeter #2 and Spectro-polarimeter for Planetary Exploration.
  • These will detect how sunlight interacts with particles in the atmosphere, giving researchers new information on atmospheric aerosols and cloud properties, as well as air quality at local, regional, and global scales.

  • Hon’ble Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya launched an advanced five-pronged strategy for the elimination of Lymphatic Filariasis by 2027 on 13 January 2023 and one of the important strategies of which is ‘Mission Mode India MDA Campaign’ National Deworming Day (NDD) celebrated twice a year on 10 February and 10 August.
  • The 11 endemic states, including Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Gujarat will be participating in the campaign.
  • Currently, there are 345 lymphatic filariasis endemic districts in 20 states and union territories of the country.
  • 75% of Mass Drug Administration (MDA) districts are from 5 states Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Odisha and Telangana.
  • Despite more than 15-20 rounds of MDA, only 138 districts have closed MDA.

  • The agreement is signed under the Telecom Technology Development Fund (TTDF) scheme of Department of Telecommunications, Government of India, which is a scheme for providing funding support to domestic companies and institutions involved in technology design, development, commercialization of telecommunication products and solutions to enable affordable broadband and mobile services in rural and remote areas.
  • Under this project, IIT Kharagpur will develop prototypes for 10-Gigabit-capable symmetric passive optical network (i.e., XGS-PON) optical line terminal (OLT) and optical network unit (ONU).
  • It is envisioned that the project will yield new design, development, and commercialization of the state-of-the-art 10 Gbps upstream and downstream access network technology solution.
  • This will facilitate growth of affordable broadband and mobile services in India.

  • M/s Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL), M/s Indigrid 2 Limited & Indigrid 1 Limited (Consortium) and M/s Apraava Energy Private Limited emerged as the successful bidders for the ISTS Transmission Projects of Ministry of Power, Government of India. RECPDCL was the Bid Process Coordinator.
  • RECPDCL also handed over Letters of Award (LOAs) to successful bidders, namely, M/s Avaada Energy Private Limited and M/s Juniper Green Energy Private Limited, for setting up 100 MW wind power projects of Damodar Valley Corporation.
  • These LOAs have been given under the “Scheme for flexibility in Generation and Scheduling of Thermal / Hydro Power Stations through bundling with Renewable Energy and Storage Power” of the Ministry of Power.
