  • Bengaluru has slipped four positions to rank 40th globally in annual price appreciation of luxury residential properties, according to real estate consultant Knight Frank.
  • In its ‘Prime Global Cities Index Q1 2021’ report, Knight Frank mentioned that New Delhi and Mumbai, too, slipped one spot each to rank at 32nd and 36th, respectively.
  • In the last report, Delhi was at 31st position, while Mumbai ranked 35th and Bengaluru 36th.
  • The Prime Global Cities Index is a valuation-based index tracking the movement in prime residential prices in local currency across 45+ cities worldwide.
  • Shenzhen ranked 1st with 18.9 per cent annual change for the period Q1 2020 Q1 2021.
  • New York was the weakest performing market and ranked 46th with a fall of 5.8 per cent in prices annually.

  • To enhance the financial safety net for people travelling (be it domestic or international), IRDAI has introduced guidelines for a standard travel insurance product.
  • The guidelines were issued by the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) on May 5, 2021.
  • As per the guidelines, there will be five variants of the travel insurance product and these will be basic mandatory covers which will be uniform across the insurance industry.
  • The standard travel cover will come with single premium payment option which will be collected in advance.
  • There will be no restrictions on minimum and maximum age of entry.
  • However, the proposer needs to be at least 18 years of age.

Standard Domestic Travel Insurance Product (SDTIP), Plan-A:

  • Mode of travel covered: Travel through Taxi Cab/bus.
  • Limit on distance: Within 100 kms from the Place of Origin
  • Covered Journey: A single journey from Place of Origin to Place of Destination.
  • Tenure : Duration of journey

SDTIP Plan-B:

  • Mode of travel covered: Travel through Taxi Cab/Bus.
  • Limit on distance: More than 100 kms from the Place of Origin
  • Covered Journey: A single journey from Place of Origin to Place of Destination
  • Tenure: Duration of journey

SDTIP Plan- C:

  • Mode of travel covered: Train Travel (Only for Reserved tickets).
  • Limit on distance: No restrictions on distance
  • Covered Journey: A single journey from the Place of Origin to Place of Destination.
  • Tenure: Duration of journey

SDTIP Plan-D:

  • Mode of travel covered: Air travel.
  • Limit on distance: No restrictions on distance
  • Covered Journey: A single journey from the Place of Origin to Place of Destination.
  • Tenure: Duration of journey

SDTIP Plan- E:

  • Mode of travel covered: Domestic Trips involving travel through any one or multiple modes of common carrier such as Taxi Cab, Bus, Train, Ship or Air travel.

  • These covers will have indemnity-based payment for hospitalisation expenses due to accident.
  • These will have range of sum insured per person from minimum Rs 1 lakh to maximum Rs 10 lakh.
  • This feature will also have deductibles worth Rs 500.
  • These plans will have benefit-based coverage for accidental death ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1 crore per person.
  • The Permanent Total Disability (PTD) coverage will also be benefit based and will be similar to accidental death cover. For repatriation of mortal remains these policies (except Plan A) will come with cover of Rs 20,000 to Rs 1 lakh

  • With the release of the second instalment, a total amount of Rs 19,742 crore has been released in the first two months of the current financial year as Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant to the states
  • The Centre provides the Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant to the states under Article 275 of the Constitution.
  • The grants are released as per the recommendations of the Finance Commission in monthly instalments to meet the gap in revenue accounts of the states post-devolution.
  • The Department of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance today released the 2nd monthly instalment of Post Devolution Revenue Deficit (PDRD) Grant of Rs 9,871 crore for the year 2021-22 to 17 States, the statement said.
  • The 15th Finance Commission has recommended Post Devolution Release Deficit grants to 17 states based on the gap between the assessment of revenue and expenditure of the state.
  • The states recommended for Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant are: Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura, Uttarakhand and West Bengal.
  • The 15th Finance Commission has recommended a total Post Devolution Revenue Deficit Grant of Rs 1,18,452 crore to 17 States in the financial year 2021-22.
  • The grant is released to the states in 12 monthly instalments.

  • The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on May 5 at Ananda, Gujarat by NDDB Executive Director Meenesh Shah and EESL Director (Projects) Venkatesh Dwivedi in the presence of senior officials
  • As per the agreement, EESL will conceptualise, propose and design technically sound alternate energy generation solutions for plants in the dairy cooperative sector across the country.
  • It will also arrange necessary technical and funding support for the design, development and operation of the non-conventional energy generation models.
  • Whereas National Dairy Development Board (NDDB) will extend its expertise in dairy business/dairy plant management/other related activities to facilitate /support conceptualising, development and implementation of the alternate energy generation models.
  • The Dairy Board will also assist in the development, monitoring and evaluation of programmes leading to assessment of outcome/impact of projects.
