  • The 14th International Children’s Film Festival of Bangladesh (ICFFB) came to an end in Dhaka.
  • 179 films from 37 countries were shown at various venues during the 7-day long festival organised by the Children’s Film Society (CFS) of Bangladesh.
  • Apart from Bangladesh, films from India, Armenia, US, UK, Ireland, Japan and China among others were shown in the course of the festival.
  • Dutch Film Jackie and Oopjen was awarded the Best International Feature Film Award.
  • The Best Director award went to Ani Oganesyan for his film Stork’s Nest from Armenia.
  • A total of 12 awards were presented to the winners at the concluding ceremony.
  • Bangldeshi film Maati got The Young Talent Award while Lottery won the Special mention under the Young Talent Award.
  • Minister of State for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak was the Chief Guest during the closing ceremony.
  • He announced that the government will contribute Tak 50 lakh next year for organizing the festival.
  • He said that a digital cineplex will be constructed in Joy Silicon Valley in Rajshahi this year.

  • Foundation stones for medical colleges and hospitals in Biswanath and Charaideo will be laid.
  • This will boost Assam’s health infrastructure.
  • In the last few years, the state has made rapid strides in healthcare.
  • This has benefitted not only Assam but also the entire Northeast.
  • ‘Asom Mala’, aimed at helping improve state highways and major district roads network in the state.
  • The two medical colleges and hospitals are being set up at Biswanath and Charaideo at a total estimated project cost of over ₹1,100 crores.

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit West Bengal this afternoon.
  • He will dedicate to the nation and lay the foundation stone of key infrastructure projects in the oil and gas and road sector at Haldia of Purba Medinipur district.
  • On his second visit to the state of West Bengal within three weeks, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate to the nation projects worth four thousand and seven hundred crore rupees at Haldia.
  • He will lay the foundation stone of the Second Catalytic Dewaxing Unit at the Haldia Refinery of Indian Oil Corporation Limited.
  • He will also inaugurate three more projects, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, BPCL’s LPG Import Terminal at Haldia, GAIL’s Dobhi-Durgapur Natural Gas Pipeline and NHAI’s four-lane ROB cum flyover at Ranichak.
  • The Catalytic Dewaxing Unit is estimated to be built with Rupees one thousand and 19 crores and to be completed by April 2023.
  • Once commissioned, this will lead to import substitution in the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat and save foreign exchange of 185 million US Dollars.
  • On the other hand, Mr Modi will be dedicating a 347-kilometre long Dobhi – Durgapur Natural Gas Pipeline built with an investment of 2,400 crore rupees as a part of the Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga project towards achieving ‘one Nation, One Gas Grid’.
  • The LPG import terminal of BPCL, built with an investment of around 1,100 crore rupees, has a capacity of one Million Metric Tonne Per Annum which will cater to the growing requirement of LPG in the eastern and north-eastern states of India.
  • At the same time, a road over bridge-cum-flyover built at Ranichak by NHAI with 190 crore rupees for seamless traffic movement in Haldia port gate will also be inaugurated.

  • To boost the safety of farmers’ crops and ensure maximum benefit of crop insurance reaches to farmers, the Government of India has allocated Rs 16000 crores for Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)for the fiscal year 2021-22.
  • This is a budgetary increase of around Rs 305 crore as against the previous fiscal year 2020-21, which reiterates the government’s commitment towards growth of agriculture sector in the country.
  • The scheme extends coverage for the entire cropping cycle from pre-sowing to post-harvest including coverage for losses arising out of prevented sowing and mid-season adversities.
  • 5 years ago, on 13th January 2016, the Government of India approved this flagship crop insurance scheme.
  • The scheme was conceived as a milestone initiative to provide a comprehensive risk solution at the lowest uniform premium across the country for farmers.
  • PMFBY is globally the largest crop insurance scheme in terms of farmer participation and 3rd largest in terms of premium. Over 5.5 crore farmer applications are received on year-on-year basis.

  • The campaign has been designed and implemented by the Regional Outreach Bureau, Pune of Ministry of I&B in collaboration with the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the IEC Division of the Maharashtra Health Department.
  • The vans will also display messages through LED screens and these vans will be live tracked through GPS.
