  • Digital payment transactions value through UPI rose to Rs 10.73 lakh crore in August this year, up marginally from the previous month.
  • In July 2022, the UPI-based digital transaction value stood at Rs 10.63 lakh crore.
  • The value of UPI transactions during August this year relates to a total of 6.57 billion (657 crores) transactions, up from 6.28 billion (628 crores) in the preceding month, as per the data released by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).
  • In June, there were 5.86 billion transactions, valued at worth Rs 10.14 lakh crore.
  • Of the other data sets on the NCPI framework, the instant transfer-based IMPS clocked transactions worth Rs 4.46 lakh crore in August, relating to a total of 46.69 crore transactions.
  • In July, it stood at Rs 4.45 lakh crore in value terms through a total of 46.08 crore transactions.
  • The NETC FASTAG for automatic toll deduction at toll plazas witnessed transactions worth Rs 4,245 crore in August, up from Rs 4,162 crore in the preceding month.

  • The total FDI inflows (which includes equity inflows, re-invested earnings and other capital) aggregated at USD 22.34 billion during the first three months of the current fiscal year as against USD 22.52 billion in the year-ago period.
  • Singapore emerged as the top investor during April-June period with USD 5.7 billion FDI.
  • It was followed by Mauritius (USD 2.4 billion), UAE (USD 2.2 billion), USA (USD 1.5 billion), Netherland (USD one billion), and Japan (USD 851 million), the data showed.
  • The computer software and hardware sector attracted the highest inflows of USD 3.5 billion during the three-month period of this fiscal.
  • It was followed by services (USD 2.6 billion), trading (USD 2 billion), chemicals (USD 960 million), automobile industry (USD 691 million) and construction (infrastructure) activities (USD 680 million).

  • CCL has a projected production contribution of about 135 million tonnes by FY25, out of which about 85 MT is likely to be produced from North Karanpura Coalfield from several Greenfield/brownfield coal mining projects, like Amrapali (25 MT), Magadh (51 MT), Chandragupta (15 MT), Sanghmitra (20 MT, etc.
  • Presently, coal evacuation from the North Karanapura coalfield is covered by Barkakana-Daltonganj branch railway line of the East Central Railway connecting Gomoh and Dehri-on-Son via Barkakana loop.
  • The additional railway line has been created by CCL, i.e. Tori – Shivpur (44.37km) double railway line.
  • The development of the third line on the same alignment is under construction at an additional capital of Rs 894 crore, which is likely to be operationalised by May 2023.
  • Further, Shivpur-Kathautia, new rail line of 49 km, has been envisaged and is being constructed through formation of project specific SPV, which shall provide another exit for coal evacuation via Koderma to the trunk railway line from Howrah to Delhi.
  • Construction of Tori-Shivpur-Kathautia Rail line envisaged by the Ministry of Coal under PM – GatiShakati initiative is likely to provide coal evacuation capacity of about 125 MT by rail and play major role in eliminating coal transportation by road.
