• Women’s Entrepreneurship Day was the brainchild of an organisation called the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organisation (WEDO).
• The organisation believes in supporting the women community and educating leaders on the social as well as economic benefits of women entrepreneurship.
• Due to these continuous efforts, the United Nations announced to celebrate Women’s Entrepreneurship Day on November 19 every year.
• The inaugural event was held in New York City at the United Nations, with some additional events being held simultaneously in several other countries.
• Initially, 144 nations in total recognised the first WED in 2014, which also included the presentation of the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Pioneer Awards.
• Women Entrepreneurship Day was founded and implemented by Pet Pioneer, Animal Fair Media Founder and Ellis Island Medal of Honor recipient Wendy Diamond, after volunteering with the Adelante Foundation which provides microcredit to low-income women while in Honduras.
• The reason behind observing Women Entrepreneurship Day is to empower and support women in business and to encourage them in alleviating poverty.
• Over the last decade, the world has witnessed the emergence and growth of women-owned businesses globally, making up 38% of all small businesses that keep the economy growing and developing.

• Jyothi Vennam, triple world championship medallist in Yankton, defeated former world champion Oh Yoohyun of South Korea in a thriller to win first Gold in the continental meet.
• Earlier in the tournament, the compound Men’s team outshined the hosts Bangladesh by 235-223 in the Bronze medal contest.

• AIIB Vice President (Investment Operations), Dr. D.J. Pandian while speaking to Prasar Bharati Special Correspondent exclusively said that India is the largest beneficiary of AIIB and the bank has so far approved 29 projects for India worth 6.8 billion USD.
• The Chennai Metropolitan Area project will cover the core urban services, including water resource management, water supply and sewerage, urban mobility, solid waste management, and public health.
• It looks at operationalising CUMTA to coordinate diff modes of transport.

• ‘Only One Earth’ was the motto for the 1972 Stockholm Conference.
• World Environment Day takes place every year on June 5.
• It is the United Nations’ flagship day for promoting worldwide awareness and action for the environment.
• Over the years, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental public outreach and is celebrated by millions of people across the world.

• The Central government signed a contract with the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) for the procurement of two Simulators for Jaguar Aircraft at a cost of Rs 357 crore, informed the Ministry of Defence.
• The government has signed a contract for procurement of two Fixed Base Full Mission Simulators (FBFMS) for Jaguar Aircraft from HAL for IAF with five years Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract (CAMC) at a combined total cost of Rs 357 crore, the official statement said.
• These simulators would be installed at Air Force Stations Jamnagar and Gorakhpur.
• As per the Ministry, under the Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, India is continuously growing in its power to indigenously design, develop and manufacture advanced cutting-edge technologies and systems in the Defence Sector.
• The manufacturing of FBFMS by HAL will give a further push to the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative and boost the indigenization of defence production and the defence industry in the country, the release read.
• The commissioning of the first FBFMS with associated equipment shall be completed within 27 months from the contract at Air Force Station Jamnagar and the 2nd FBFMS shall be completed within 36 months from the contract at Air Force Station Gorakhpur, it added.
• With the procurement of these simulators, IAF will enhance the quality of flying training to higher standards by exposing the pilots to various contingencies in the entire operating envelope including simulation of advanced long-range weapons.

• He informed that MRI Scanner Prisma from Siemens, Germany, is being used by several international initiatives, like Brain initiative of USA, the European human brain project.
• NBRC is devoted to studying brain functions in health and diseases using innovative multidisciplinary approaches in basic and translational research.
• Research at NBRC is classified into five divisions, namely Cellular and Molecular, Systems, Cognitive, Computational, and Translational.
• Nevertheless, faculty collaborate across divisions and other institutions to address their research questions.
• Located in the foothills of the Aravali range in Manesar, Haryana, NBRC is an autonomous institute funded by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and is also a Deemed-to-be University.
• Govt. of India has recognised NBRC as an Institution of Excellence.
