• The list by TRACE, an anti-bribery standard setting organisation, measures business bribery risk in 194 countries, territories, and autonomous and semi-autonomous regions.
• According to this year’s data, North Korea, Turkmenistan, Venezuela and Eritrea pose the highest commercial bribery risk, while Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden and New Zealand present the lowest.
• In 2020, India ranked 77 with a score of 45 while this year, the country stood at 82nd position with a score of 44, the data showed.
• Vanuatu, Peru, Northare Macedonia and Montenegro also scored 44, the same as that of India, in the matrix.
• The TRACE Bribery Risk Matrix measures the likelihood of bribe demands in 194 jurisdictions.
• It was originally published in 2014 to meet a need in the business community for more reliable and nuanced information about the risks of commercial bribery worldwide.
• The TRACE Bribery Risk Matrix aggregates relevant data obtained from leading public interest and international organisations, including the United Nations, World Bank, V-Dem Institute at the University of Gothenburg and World Economic Forum.
• This data helps companies to assess the likely risk of bribe demands in each country and to design compliance and due diligence programs tailored to that risk, it said.

• This partnership with GIPL brings a corpus of USD 15 million (around Rs 110 crore) to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) as a crisis response related to COVID-19, Sidbi said in a release.

• In another statement, the RBI said a penalty of Rs 2.50 lakh has been imposed on The Nizamabad District Co-operative Central Bank Ltd, Nizamabad, Telangana, for non-adherence/ violation of certain directions on the ‘Income Recognition, Asset Classification, Provisioning and Other Related Matters — UCBs’.

• The recent circular by Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Tokenization states that neither the authorised Payment Aggregators nor the merchants shall store customer card credentials on their servers.
• Only the card issuing banks or the corresponding networks are authorized by the RBI to save customers’ card details.
• The deadline for card tokenization is December 31, 2021.

• Remittances to low- and middle-income countries are projected to have grown a strong 7.3 per cent to reach USD 589 billion in 2021, the bank said.
• This return to growth is more robust than earlier estimates and follows the resilience of flows in 2020 when remittances declined by only 1.7 per cent despite a severe global recession due to COVID-19, according to estimates from the World Bank’s Migration and Development Brief.
• India had received over USD 83 billion in remittances in 2020.
