  • National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) had celebrated Elimination of Child Labour Week in the honour of World Day Against Child Labour in the 75 places as part of the “75th anniversary celebrations of India’s independence–Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” in different districts starting from 12th June to 20thJune, 2022 as a significance to pay attention to the problem of child labour and to find ways to eradicate it.
  • National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) has been constituted by the Government of India, as a statutory body under section 3 of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005 for dealing with the protection of child rights and related matters.
  • Under section 13(1) of the Commissions for Protection of Child Rights (CPCR) Act, 2005, had provided certain functions to ensure that the rights of children are protected especially the most vulnerable and marginalized.
  • In addition, the Commission has also been mandated to monitor the implementation of the Juvenile Justice (Care & Protection of Children) Act, 2015, Right of Children to Free & Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009 and Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

  • Payment solution provider OmniCard said it had launched cash withdrawal facility from any ATM through their e-wallet.
  • The company claimed that it has recently become the first RBI licensed PPI (prepaid instruments) to launch cash withdrawal using a RuPay-powered card from any ATMs across the country.
  • OmniCard users can withdraw cash from any ATM at their convenience with full security from frauds like card theft, and card cloning, as the withdrawal facility comes with high safety and secure features and protects the user from exposing their money and bank account details,” the company said in a statement.
  • OmniCard provides users a complete mobile first journey where the users can create a Rupay powered digital card in a few seconds, order their physical personalised card and pay using UPI QR codes across merchants.

  • Ajit K Dubey Amid a big push for the Aatmanirbhar Bharat scheme by the PM Narendra Modi-led government, the Indian Air Force is planning to acquire 114 fighter jets of which 96 would be built in India, and rest 18 would be imported from the foreign vendor chosen for the project.
  • The Indian Air Force has plans of acquiring 114 Multirole Fighter Aircraft (MRFA) under ‘Buy Global and Make in India’ scheme under which Indian companies would be allowed to partner with a foreign vendor.
  • The force has already placed orders for 83 of the LCA Mk 1A aircraft but it still requires a higher number of capable aircraft as a large number of MiG series planes have either been phased out or are on their last legs.

  • Ude Desh ka Aam Naagrik (UDAN) (let the country’s typical person fly), a dream project of the Central Government, is celebrating its fifth anniversary this year.
  • The scheme’s take-off was slow but gained momentum even as newer airlines like Star Air started exploring this vast untapped market.
  • Analysts say UDAN is a gamechanger in the aviation sector and has ensured that the ‘common man’ can commute between smaller cities in a short time, which otherwise would take hours, at an affordable cost.
  • As of March 21, 2022, the total receipt/collection in the Regional Air Connectivity Fund Trust was ₹2,459 crore, and viability gap funding disbursed to the selected airline operator under UDAN was ₹1,784 crore, according to the Minister of State in the Ministry of Civil Aviation VK Singh.
  • 415 UDAN routes connect 66 underserved/unserved airports, including heliports and water aerodromes, while over 92 lakh people have benefited from the scheme.
  • The scheme has so far resulted in more than 1.79 lakh flights.
