  • The cover guarantees insurance benefits for farmers if, over 60 days starting from May 1, temperatures exceed the specified limits for a predetermined number of days, with region-specific parameters.
  • The claim settlement process is simple and hassle-free. The insurer takes the data of temperature trends for the insured period from a pre-agreed public database and compensates the claimant as per the prescribed benefits slab.
  • Each insured cattle is eligible for a cover of a maximum of ₹2,000. Currently, the insurance cover extends to one cattle per household.
  • In the first phase, mooMark is offering this insurance as a part of its loyalty programme.
  • This policy covers around 7,000 farmers, in 5 districts, across 4 States for a total sum assured of over ₹1.3 crore.

  • The initiative of RBI and IIT Madras aims at conducting basic banking transactions through voice-controls in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and English, in the initial stage. Voice-banking will assist the illiterate and the visually impaired in their banking needs.
  • State Bank of India (SBI), Axis Bank, Kotak Mahindra and IDFC First conducted a codefest on voice-banking called ‘Vaulter Voice’ at the IIT Madras Research Park.
  • Young professionals, start-ups and students took part in the codefest to showcase the potential of voice-banking services.
  • A pilot project should be available in 12 to 18 months.

  • With this, the monthly GST revenue has come in at more than Rs 1.4 lakh crore for the 14th consecutive month.
  • The gross revenue has crossed the 1.5 lakh crore mark for the fifth time since the inception of GST in the country.
  • Of the total gross GST revenue collected in May CGST is Rs 28,411 crore, SGST is Rs 35,828 crore, IGST is Rs 81,363 crore (including Rs 41,772 crore collected on import of goods) and cess is Rs 11,489 crore (including Rs 1,057 crore collected on import of goods).

  • As of June 30, 2023, more than 4.85 million loan applications have been sanctioned, with over 4.64 million loans disbursed, amounting to a total of Rs. 57.95 billion.
  • Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs launched a PM SVANidhi mobile app for street vendors, to ease the loan application process and provide various information to Street Vendors regarding the Scheme.
  • Moreover, a facility for ‘Udyam’ registration and obtaining ‘Udyam Assist’ certificate for Street Vendors on PM SVANidhi portal was also launched with the help of Ministry of Small and Medium enterprises, MSME, to provide easy access to vendors for obtaining Udyam Registration Certificate for promotion of their business.

  • The government intends to build a robust ecosystem for setting up Biogas/Compressed Biogas (CBG)/Bio-Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) plants to drive sustainable economic growth and foster a circular economy.
  • The Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DDWS), Ministry of Jal Shakti, has developed the Unified Registration Portal for GOBARdhan, accessible at https://gobardhan.co.in.

  • It is a G20 tradition since the inception of the EWG, to organize an Employment Working Group at the side-lines of the International Labour Organization (ILO)’s annual International Labour Conference at Geneva.
  • 78 delegates from 20 G20 member countries, 09 guest countries and 04 International Organizations are attending the meeting.
  • The Ministry of Labour & Employment’s international knowledge partners i.e. International Labour Organisation ILO), Organisation for Economic Cooperation & Development (OECD), International Social Security Association (ISSA), World Bank (WB) and a domestic knowledge partner i.e. Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, Government of India, are attending the meeting to provide their technical expertise to the Group.
