• The two MoUs are aimed at facilitating seamless cross border transactions and payments, and foster greater economic cooperation between the two countries.
• The MoU on establishing a framework for the use of local currencies for transactions between India and UAE, aims to put in place a Local Currency Settlement System (LCSS) to promote the use of the Indian rupee/ INR and the UAE Dirham/ AED bilaterally.
• This arrangement would also promote investments and remittances between the two countries. Use of local currencies would optimise transaction costs and settlement time for transactions, including for remittances from Indians residing in UAE.
• Under the MOU on ‘Payments and Messaging Systems’, the two central banks agreed to cooperate on (a) linking their Fast Payment Systems (FPSs) – Unified Payments Interface (UPI) of India with Instant Payment Platform (IPP) of UAE; (b) linking the respective Card Switches (RuPay switch and UAESWITCH); and (c) exploring the linking of payments messaging systems — Structured Financial Messaging System (SFMS) of India with the messaging system in the UAE.
• The MoUs were signed by RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and the CBUAE Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama.
• The MoUs were exchanged between the two Governors, in the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President of the UAE Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

• The TAC is a legally-binding non-aggression pact signed in 1976 among ASEAN members to establish a set of guidelines to govern inter-state relations in the region, promote perpetual peace, everlasting amity and cooperation based on mutual respect, non-interference principle and peaceful settlement of disputes.
• China is the first major country to join the TAC treaty in 2003. This year marks the 20th anniversary of China’s accession to the TAC.
• The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) groups Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
• In 2022, under Cambodia’s chairmanship of ASEAN, seven nations – Ukraine, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Greece, the Netherlands, and Denmark – signed the Instrument of Accession to TAC.
• The Treaty has been amended three times, in 1987, 1998, and 2010, respectively, to allow for accession by states outside Southeast Asia as well as for regional organisations whose members are sovereign states, among others.

• The scope of this exercise involves Platoon level Field Training Exercise (FTX). During the exercise, Indian and Mongolian troops will engage in various training activities designed to enhance their skills and capabilities.

• This collaboration marks the establishment of the first-ever Atal Tinkering Lab, based on the PPP (Public-Private Partnership) model.
• The lab at St Paul’s CEHSS in Kuriachira, Thrissur, was inaugurated by Rajeev Chandrashekar, the Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship and Electronics and Information Technology.
• The primary objective of this initiative is to create an empowered future-ready workforce and nurture entrepreneurship and technological skills among the youth.
• Till 2022, 10,000 ATLs were established across 35 States and UTs in India though government grants.
• The ATL has been set up to empower school children in grades six to 12th to develop innovative solutions. The students can harness cutting-edge technology tools such as 3D printing, the Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, miniaturised electronics, space technology, drone technology, and technology-inspired textiles.
• The ATL in the nodal school will act as a ‘Hub’ for the students from neighbouring government schools to come and conduct experiments in the lab.

• Tata Group’s aerospace company, Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has signed a contract with Indian Army.
• Under the contract, Army would procure Tactical Access Switch.
• The compact, modular, and ruggedized networking device would provide faster switching capability and thus strengthen the tactical communication capability of the Indian Army.
• Earlier, the Nyoma military station located at a height of around 14,500 feet witnessed the newer weapon systems and equipment inducted by the Indian Army to strengthen its presence to tackle the adversary.
• The Army in the recent past has inducted the made-in-India Dhanush howitzer which has been developed based on the Transfer of Technology for the Bofors howitzers and has been made more advanced.
• Dhanush howitzer can strike targets at up to 48 Kms, and has been inducted in the Eastern Ladakh sector last year itself.
• 114 guns developed and produced by the erstwhile Ordnance Factory Board would also be joining the Indian Army.
• Another Made in India platform which is proving very useful for moving troops at very high speeds to the forward locations is the M4 Quick Reaction Force Vehicle which can 10 combat-ready armed troops to the forward locations along the Line of Actual Control and can move at speeds of around 60-80 Km per hour even in the harsh terrain of Ladakh sector, Army officers deployed in the sector said.
• The surveillance equipment in the Army inventory has also been strengthened as the new Tata Rajak system has been inducted into the force which can observe or detect humans from more than 15 kms, and vehicles from more than 25 Kms.
