• Under the agreement, BPCL will supply 0.43 MMSCMD (Million Metric Standard Cubic Meters per Day) of RLNG (Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas) to MRPL’s refinery and petrochemical facility in Mangaluru from Cochin terminal.
• MRPL intends to utilise RLNG as feed for the production of hydrogen and fuel for gas turbines to generate power, steam, and various furnaces.
• Using natural gas in the refinery helps reduce both the emissions and carbon footprint of the refinery.

Regasified Liquefied Natural Gas (RLNG):

• Liquefied natural gas must be regasified to be used as fuel, power generation, for heating, cooking etc.
• Regasification is a process of converting liquefied natural gas (LNG) at −162 °C (−260 °F) temperature back to natural gas at atmospheric temperature.
• Regasification is the process of converting the gas back to gaseous state by heating the liquified gas.
• In a conventional regasification plant, LNG is heated by sea water to convert it to natural gas / methane gas.

About Automated DNA Extractor Machine:

• These machines are completely indigenous to Make in India.
• It has been made in such a way that the minimum plastic is used in it, so that there is no harm to the environment.
• With this machine, DNA can be extracted from any biological material, like blood, saliva, hair or tissue.
• With its help, DNA can be separated from about 32 samples at one time in 30 minutes.
• A three-day conference on Personalised Medicine was organised by the Department of Zoology of BHU and Adnet Society, Hyderabad, in March 2023.
• 21 famous scientists from 15 countries had reached this conference.
• On a suggestion from this conference, a human DNA bank has been established at BHU.
• In the same conference, it was decided that BHU is fully prepared to create a genome bank like the country of Estonia.

Inaugurated Projects by PM in Odisha:

• The Prime Minister inaugurated ‘Dhamra – Angul Pipeline Section’ (412 Km) of ‘Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Pipeline Project (JHBDPL)’.Built at a cost of more than Rs 2450 crore under the ‘Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga’, the project will connect Odisha with the National Gas Grid.
• The Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone of ‘Nagpur Jharsuguda Natural Gas Pipeline Section’ (692 Km)’ of Mumbai-Nagpur-Jharsuguda Pipeline. The project developed at a cost of more than Rs 2660 crore, will improve the natural gas availability to states like Odisha, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.
• During the programme, the Prime Minister dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of multiple power projects worth about Rs 28,980 crore.
• The projects to be dedicated to nation include NTPC Darlipali Super Thermal Power Station (2×800 MW) and NSPCL Rourkela PP-II Expansion Project (1×250 MW) in Sundargarh district of Odisha.
• He also laid the foundation stone of NTPC Talcher Thermal Power Project, Stage-III (2×660 MW) in Angul district of Odisha.
• These power projects will supply low-cost power to Odisha as well as several other states.
• The Prime Minister laid the foundation stone of the Neyveli Lignite Corporation (NLC) Talabira Thermal power project worth more than 27000 crore.
• The Prime Minister inaugurated coal infrastructure projects of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited including First Mile Connectivity (FMC) projects – Bhubaneswari Phase-I in Talcher Coalfields in Angul district and Lajkura Rapid Loading System (RLS). Built at a cost of about Rs. 2145 crore, these projects will boost the quality and supply of dry fuel from Odisha.
• The Prime Minister also inaugurated Ib Valley Washery, built at a cost of over Rs. 550 crore in Jharsuguda district of Odisha. It will mark a paradigm shift in coal processing for quality, signifying innovation and sustainability.
• The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation a 50 km long second track of Jharsuguda-Barpali-Sardega rail line Phase-1 built by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, with an investment of Rs 878 crore.
• The Prime Minister also inaugurated three National Highways road sector projects, developed at a cumulative cost of about Rs 2110 crore.
• The projects include four laning of Rimuli-Koida Section of NH 215 (New NH No. 520), four laning of Biramitrapur-Brahmani Bypass end section of NH 23 (New NH No. 143) and four laning of Brahmani Bypass End-Rajamunda Section of NH 23 (New NH No. 143).
• The Prime Minister dedicated to the nation and laid the foundation stone of railway projects worth about Rs. 2146 crore.
• He laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of Sambalpur Railway Station, whose architecture is inspired by the Sailashree Palace.
• He also dedicated the Sambalpur- Talcher Doubling Railway Line (168 Kms) and Jhartarbha to Sonepur New Railway line (21.7 Kms), enhancing the rail network capacity in the region.
• The Prime Minister also flagged off Puri-Sonepur-Puri Weekly Express, improving connectivity for the rail passengers in the region.
• The Prime Minister also inaugurated the permanent campus of IIM Sambalpur.
• Further, he dedicated the Jharsuguda Head Post Office Heritage Building to the nation.

Track Child Portal:

• The Ministry of Women and Child Development developed the “Track Child Portal”, which enables tracking of the missing and found children in all States/UTs including Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, North Eastern States and Jharkhand.
• The Track Child portal is implemented with support and involvement of various stakeholders namely Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Railways, State Governments/ UT Administrations, Child Welfare Committees, Juvenile Justice Boards, National Legal Services Authority, etc. Standard operating procedure have been issued for the “TrackChild” Portal.
• The TrackChild portal is also integrated with the CCTNS or Crime and Criminal Tracking & Network Systems of the Ministry of Home Affairs, which allows interoperability in terms of matching of F.I.Rs of missing children with database of TrackChild to trace and match missing children by the concerned State/UT police.
• One component of TrackChild Portal has “Khoya-Paya” where any citizen can report for any missing or sighted children.

GHAR:

• GHAR – GO Home and Re-Unite (Portal for Restoration and Repatriation of Child) has been developed and launched by NCPCR.
• The GHAR portal has been developed to digitally monitor and track the restoration and repatriation of children as per the protocols under the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015 and Rules thereof.

Salient features of the portal:

• Digital tracking and monitoring of children who are in the Juvenile Justice system and have to be repatriated to another Country/State/District.
• Digital transfer of cases of children to the concerned Juvenile Justice Board/Child Welfare Committee of the State for speedy repatriation of children.
• Where there is a requirement of a translator/interpreter/expert, request to be made to the concerned State Government.
• Child Welfare Committees and District Child Protection Officers can ensure proper restoration and rehabilitation of children by digitally monitoring the progress of the case of the child.
• A checklist format will be provided in the forms so that the children who are hard to repatriate or children who are not getting their entitled compensation or other monetary benefits can be identified.
• List of Government implemented schemes are provided, so that at the time of restoration the Child Welfare Committees can link the child with the schemes to strengthen the family and ensure that child remains with his/her family.

• As informed by NCPCR, a total 5175 children have been registered on the Go Home and Re-Unite (GHAR) Portal for repatriation.

• In FY23, the government had constructed 10,331 km of highways, against the initial target of 12,500 km.

Note:

• India has about 66.71 lakh km of road network, which is the second largest in the world.
• The government aimed to convert all one-lane roads into two lane NHs by 2028, given that the length of less than 2-lane NH decreased from 30% in 2014 to 10% in 2023.
• In the interim budget, the government has set aside Rs 2.78 trillion for the MoRTH for FY25, higher than the budget estimate of Rs 2.7 trillion in FY24.
• When compared to the revised estimate of Rs 2.76 trillion, the allocation is hike of a mere 0.5%.

• In 2022, the average travel time within the city was nearly 30 minutes for a 10km drive.
• However, in 2023, the travel time has been reduced to 28 minutes for the same distance.
• India’s Pune ranked at 7th in the list of top-10 world’s congested cities.
• According to the TomTom Traffic Index, the average travel time within Pune was 27 minutes and 50 seconds to cover 10 km of distance last year.
• It increased by 30 seconds from 2022.
• The national capital New Delhi is the world’s 44th congested city wherein it takes average 21 minutes and 40 seconds to cover 10 km of distance.
• Mumbai ranked 54 where the average travel time to cover 10 km of distance was 21 minutes 20 seconds in 2023.
• TomTom Traffic selected 387 cities in 55 countries and compared average travel time.
• To compare traffic states’ efficiency worldwide, tomTom used average vehicles with different drive types, petrol and diesel, and EV.

• This year’s edition of the Vayu Shakti exercise will see all major fighter aircraft, including the Su-30MKIs, LCA Tejas, Mirage 2000 and MiG-29s, and showcasing their firepower by shooting missiles and bombs at designated targets.
• A total of 77 fighter planes, 41 helicopters and five transport aircraft will take part in the exercise.
• There will also be demonstrations of surface-to-air, air-to-air and air-to-ground weapons.
• This is the first time that the Rafale fighter jets, Prachand choppers, as well as the Samar surface-to-air weapon system will take part in the exercise which the IAF has been conducting since 1954.
