  • Veteran batter Mithali Raj added another feather to her cap by becoming the first player to complete 7,000 runs in women’s ODI cricket.
  • The Indian skipper reached the 7,000-run milestone in her 213th match, which was the fourth ODI of the ongoing five-match series against South Africa.
  • During the third match, Mithali had become the first Indian player and only the second internationally to complete 10,000 runs across all formats.
  • The 38-year-old, who made her international debut in 1999, was also the first player to score 6,000 runs in women’s ODIs.
  • England’s Charlotte Edwards, who retired from international cricket in 2016, is second the list of leading run scorers with 5,992.

  • The Falcon 9 rocket nailed its landing at sea, becoming the first in the SpaceX fleet to launch and land a record nine times.
  • This Falcon 9 first stage booster has previously supported the launch of Crew Dragon Demo-1, RADARSAT Constellation, SXM-7, and five Starlink missions.
  • The successful launch helped SpaceX inch closer to its initial goal of 1,440 satellites to provide near-global service by late 2021 or 2022.
  • The deployment of the new batch of Starlink satellites comes days after SpaceX’s last launch, where a different Falcon 9 booster took off from neighbouring Cape Canaveral Space Force Station to deliver a full stack of 60 Starlink satellites to orbit.
  • The booster had earlier supported the launch of Nasa astronauts Bob Behnken and Doug Hurley to the International Space Station, ANASIS-II, CRS-21, Transporter-1, and a Starlink mission.

  • The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has announced a new scheme for tourist vehicle operators.
  • Any tourist vehicle operator may apply for an All India tourist authorization and permit through online mode.
  • It will be issued, after relevant documents are submitted and fees deposited, within 30 days of submission of such applications.
  • The new set of rules to be known as, All India Tourist Vehicles Authorization and Permit Rules, 2021, will be applicable from 1st April this year.
  • All existing permits shall continue to be in force during their validity.
  • The new rules for permits are expected to go a long way in promoting tourism across the states.
  • It will also consolidate a central database and fees of all such authorization which might give a sense of tourist movements, scope for improvement and promotion of tourism.

  • He also laid the foundation stone of CSIR-AMPRI Bamboo Composite Structure.
  • The foundation stone for multifunctional CSIR-AMPRI Bamboo Composite Structure was also laid by the Minister.
  • CSIR-AMPRI has developed a knowhow of manufacturing environmentally friendly multifunctional bamboo composite material for modern housing and structures using abundantly available bamboo as a raw material.
  • The newly developed bamboo composite material can serve as a competitive, sustainable and environment friendly alternative material, useful in the construction of smart green buildings as it has very attractive features like, aesthetic appearance, acoustic & thermal insulation.
