Aqua Rejuvenation Plant (ARP):

  • Aqua Rejuvenation Plant (ARP) is an Integrated Waste Water Rejuvenation Model which has Six-Stage purification profile for comprehensive treatment of Waste Water, based upon diverse purification parameters.
  • The approx. 24,000 litres of Water that can be rejuvenated using ARP will be sufficient for almost 4 acres of Agricultural Land (barring seasonal variations in water requirements).
  • The used filtration media have been specially developed to handle Indian Sewage Water Parameters and based upon Geographical Variations they may be modified.
  • The filter media is also locally source-able, so as to ensure that there would not be any stress in the Supply Chain for scaled-up Manufacturing of ARP.
  • The treated water which is now being used for irrigation can be used even for drinking purpose also when little more time is given for settling.
  • The system has dual benefit as while the treated water is being used for irrigation purpose, the filtered sludge generated is also utilized as manure / fertilizer.
  • The bio char prepared from dry leaves falling in autumn season is also used for mixing in soil as it reduces the water requirement for irrigation thus saving precious water.

  • Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman launched the Union Budget mobile app, even as final stages of FY 2021-22 Budget preparation began with the Halwa ceremony.
  • The customary halwa ceremony was held in North Block and is performed every year before the “lock-in” process of Budget preparation begins.
  • The mobile app will provide easy and quick access to Union Budget information to all stakeholders, as the Budget will be delivered in paperless form for the first time.
  • The mobile App facilitates complete access to 14 Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG), Finance Bill etc. as prescribed by the Constitution. The documents will be available after the completion of the Budget Speech by the Finance Minister. Sitharaman will present the Budget on February 1, 2021.
  • The app has a user-friendly interface with embedded features of downloading, printing, search, zoom in and out, bidirectional scrolling, table of contents and external links, etc.
  • It will have English and Hindi language support and will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. The app can also be downloaded from the Union Budget Web Portal (www.indiabudget.gov.in).

  • The Punjab government has hiked the grant for the marriage of daughters of construction workers from Rs 31,000 to Rs 51,000 under its ‘Shagun’ scheme from
    April 1.
  • The decision was taken by Chief Minister Amarinder Singh while chairing the 27th meeting of the Building and Other Construction Workers (BOCW) Welfare Board via videoconferencing.
  • Daughters of construction workers registered with the BOCW Welfare Board are eligible for the grant under the ‘Shagun’ scheme.
  • Singh also approved Rs 1,500 financial aid to such workers or their family members who test positive for COVID-19.
  • The chief minister announced compensation worth Rs 2 lakh in case of death of a worker in an accident during construction work even if he/she is not registered with the construction board, provided he/she is otherwise eligible to be registered as a construction worker.
  • The board also announced a hike in the annual stipend for construction workers’ children  from Rs 25,000 to Rs 35,000 for boys and from Rs 30,000 to Rs 40,000 for girls pursuing degree courses in pharmaceutical or paramedical studies.

  • The project is in sync with the data-driven governance mandate under the Punjab State Data Policy, 2020.
