  • Briefing reporters in New Delhi, Commerce Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam said, goods exports is expected to touch 450 billion dollar while exports in service sector will reach 300 billion dollar this year.
  • Giving details of exports data, Mr Subrahmanyam said that exports in August this year remained flat at 33 billion US dollar while during the month of April to August, the exports stood at 192 billion dollar up by 17.1 per cent compared to last year.
  • He said, imports in the month of August, 2022 stood at 61.88 billion registering an increase of 37 per cent over the previous year while in the five months of the current fiscal, India’s imports were at 318 billion US dollar showing a rise of 45 per cent.
  • He said, coal and petroleum imports are driving the rise in imports but overall rise in imports is a sign of healthy demand in the economy as 25% of country’s imports are for consumer items, while 75 per cent are for raw materials.

16. School enrolment may decrease by over how many percent until 2025, says NCERT study?

  • The enrolment in schools may decrease by over 14 per cent till 2025 with the enrolment of girls expected to decline by over 2 per cent more than that of boys, an NCERT study has projected.
  • The enrolment of scheduled caste students would remain unchanged for the next 510 years, while the number of students from scheduled tribe will face stagnation after 2023-24, the study by Educational Survey Division (ESD) of NCERT added.
  • The report said that enrolment is a function of population, so a decline in the child population in the age groups of 611, 1114, and 1416 years is reflected in the enrolment at each stage.
  • The report Projection and Trends of School Enrolment by 2025′ has taken into account the National Achievement Survey (NAS) conducted by the NCERT and figures of the annual Unified District Information System for Education (UDISE) data.
  • The study considered NAS reports from 21 states where the population was more than 5 million in the 2011 Population Census of India, saying there is much fluctuation in the data of the North Eastern states and some statistics are not available.

  • Under the GodhanNyay Yojana, Rs 335 crore 24 lakh has been paid to the beneficiaries in the state so far, which includes a bonus amount of Rs 18 crore.
  • After the payment of Rs 5.09 crore on September 5, the amount paid under this scheme will reach to Rs 340 crore 35 lakh.
  • The GodhanNyay Yojana is the only scheme in the country and the world, under which cow dung at the rate of Rs 2 per kg and cow urine at the rate of Rs 4 per litre is procured in the Gauthans of Chhattisgarh state.
  • An amount of Rs 158.24 crore has also been paid to villagers for selling 79.12 lakh quintals of cow dung till August 15 in Gauthans.
  • After the payment of Rs 2.69 crore to cow dung vendors on September 05, this figure will reach Rs 160.94 crore.
  • An amount of Rs 154.02 crore has been paid so far to Gauthan committees and women’s self-help groups.
  • After payment of Rs 2.40 crore to Gauthan committees and self-help groups on September 05, this figure will reach Rs 156.42 crore.
