  • Asian Games gold medallist and Olympian Tulsidas Balaram, a part of Indian football’s ‘holy trinity’ in the 1950s and 60s, died here on Thursday after a prolonged illness, sources close to his family said.
  • Balaram belonged to the golden generation of Indian football and teamed up with legends such as Chuni Goswami and PK Banerjee to forge a formidable partnership upfront.
  • Balaram was 85 and he remained a bachelor, living in a flat on the banks of Hooghly river in Uttarpara, West Bengal.

  • The bank’s country head for payments Parag Rao said this move will offer customers even more flexibility and convenience to make digital payments.

  • The Union Cabinet gave its nod for the construction of the 4.1-km Shinkun La tunnel on the Nimu-Padam-Darcha road link to provide all-weather connectivity to the border areas of Ladakh. Providing details of the cabinet decision, Union minister Anurag Thakur said the tunnel will be completed by December 2025 at a cost of Rs 1,681 crore.
  • The length of the tunnel will be 4.1 km. An approach will also be built by December 2025.

  • However, these recorders are painted in orange colour to help in their recovery following an aircraft accident.

  • The Cheetahs will be translocated to Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh.
  • Addressing the media on this occasion Shri Yadav said that bringing the Cheetah back to India will help in restoring the nation’s natural heritage.
  • He also thanked the Defence Ministry and the Indian Air Force for extending full support for the translocation. Shri Yadav also mentioned about the various initiatives taken up by the ministry in the areas of wildlife conservation including Project Cheetah, LIFE concept and its sustainability, Green growth namely Green Credit, Mishti – for mangrove conservation and Gaj Utsav among others.
