  • Aggregate deposit growth (year-on-year) has remained in the range of 9.5 – 10.2 percent during the last five quarters.
  • Metropolitan branches continue to account for over half of the bank deposits and their share increased marginally over the last year.
  • The share of current account and savings account (CASA) deposits in total deposits has been increasing over the last three years (42 percent in June 2020, 43.8 percent in June 2021, and 44.5 percent in June 2022).
  • As credit growth is outpacing deposit growth in the recent period, the credit-deposit (C-D) ratio has been on the rise.
  • In June 2022, the C-D ratio stood at 73.5 percent at the all-India level (70.5 percent a year ago) and 86.2 percent for metropolitan branches of banks (84.3 percent a year ago).

  • SEPC Chairman Sunil H Talati said that the British market holds huge potential for domestic services sectors like medical transcription, legal, accounting and auditing.
  • Negotiations for the trade pact between the countries are at advanced stages and expected to conclude by the end of this month.
  • After the conclusion of the talks, it would take some time to implement the agreement.
  • Under this agreement, both countries may significantly cut or eliminate customs duties on the maximum number of goods traded between them.
  • Besides, norms would be relaxed to promote trade in services.
  • He also said that the council is hopeful of achieving the USD 300 billion exports target for 2022-23 on account of healthy growth in the outbound shipments so far. In 2021-22, it was USD 254 billion.
  • Services exports have increased to USD 71 billion during April-June this fiscal against USD 56.22 billion in the same quarter last year, according to the council’s data.

  • The collaboration includes joint development in agronomy, logistics solutions and product development to support farmers of both India and Saudi Arabia.

  • This project aims to take care of the existing sewerage problems in Agra city which pollute river Yamuna.
  • After implementation of the project, it is expected there will be no discharge of untreated sewage from Agra city into the river Yamuna, thereby helping in reducing the pollution load in the river.
  • The contract signed at the National Mission for Clean Ganga’s office, has been awarded at a total cost of Rs 582.84 crore.
  • The NMCG has approved the project for construction of sewage treatment plants of total capacity of 177.6 MLD, among other works such as developing interception and diversion structures, sewage pumping stations including operation and maintenance for 15 years.
