• He was awarded the Padma Shri(1983) and Arjuna Award( 1982) by the Government of India.
• Kaur Singh was not only a champion boxer but also once faced American boxing legend Muhammad Ali. He faced the Muhammad Ali in a four-round exhibition match on January 27, 1980, in Delhi.
• He made his national debut in boxing in 1979 and won a gold in senior national boxing.
  Kaur Singh had six gold medals in international competition to his credit, including one at the 1982 Asian Games. He won three gold medals at the senior national boxing championship (1979-1983), the Asian Boxing Championship (1980) and the Asian Games (1982).
• Kaur Singh won the heavyweight boxing gold medal at the 1982 Asian Games in New Delhi.
• Kaur Singh represented India at the Los Angeles Summer Olympics in 1984.
• A biopic on his life, titled ‘Padma Shri Kaur Singh’, starring Karamjit Singh Batth and Prabh Grewal, was supposed to release in 2020 but had been postponed to 2022.
• He won the Sangram and SenaSewa medals.
• Kaur Singh had joined the Indian Army at the age of 23 as a havildar in 1971 . India went to war with Pakistan only a few months later, and he valiantly fought in the Barmer sector of Rajasthan.
